BMW M5 F90 CS with approx. 650 PS and less weight!

The rumors surrounding the BMW M5 F90 CS LCI are increasing and a video presented yesterday underpins the speculation. Like the website bmwblog.com reported the new top model could start at the start of the M5 Competition as M5 CS (Clubsport) with approx. 650 PS and thus be the most powerful production BMW of all time. The website refers in part to the key data of previous CS models. Visually, it should only be minor changes to the front apron and maybe a few special paintwork and lightweight rims (to reduce unsprung masses) give. Perhaps they also shine on the M5 CS in the colors copper or gold. The matt gray vehicle from the video appears to stand on the normal Y-spoke 789 BiColor Alus. And it could be just as subtle in the cabin. A little more sportiness is expected here than with the M5 Competition with, for example, M5 CS emblems or new and lighter carbon surfaces. The following video on the channel of bmwfansschweiz.bfs unfortunately shows nothing concrete because of the somewhat modest quality. A revised steering wheel with Alcantara cover can be seen, however.

It is very likely that the roof, the open tailgate and the open bonnet are made of carbon in order to keep the curb weight as low as possible. In the case of the bonnet, we are even of the opinion that it has gill-like air openings on both sides in the front area. But it may also be a reflection. And a particularly aggressive carbon rear diffuser also seems to be installed. On the other hand, it is not known whether a small carbon spoiler lip will remain on the tailgate or whether a slightly enlarged copy will be used. In any case, the vehicle from the video does not have a fixed rear spoiler installed. What is certain, however, is a once again improved high-performance brake system made of ceramic / composite material with large perforated discs and, of course, a noticeable increase in performance from the S63B44T4-V8-BiTurbo, which can be seen well in the video and quantified with the mentioned 650 PS, which we also consider realistic.

At the same time, the torque will probably increase from 750 Nm to 775 to 800 NM. The increased performance could be achieved with new software, improved cooling and perhaps even with a slightly changed turbocharger. And with a high probability there will also be a change in the limited slip differential to enable the CS to take an even sportier pace. By the way, we price the M5 CS at over $ 120.000 and with a high probability the club sport circulation is limited as always.
