If you are looking for an uncompromising sports coupé, you can’t avoid the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. In contrast, the German competition like the BMW M8 Competition Coupe (F92) looks downright pale. But both vehicles have brutal engines under the hood. The M8 can therefore also be called the “German Mustang”. Visually just made according to the good old understatement construction. However, the prices of the M8 are also typically German! Because the Munich with almost full equipment as M8 Competition costs almost twice as much as a Shelby GT500.
BMW M8 Competition vs. Shelby GT500 Mustang!
And the following video shows us whether the extra charge is worth it. Can the M8 Competition with xDrive all-wheel drive beat the rear-wheel drive Shelby GT500? The video from DragTimes from earlier this year confirms itself again? There the M8 had narrowly won against the Mustang, but also lost. The Mustang Shelby GT500 has a 5,2-liter supercharged V8 under the hood and develops 770 hp (567 kW) and 847 Newton meters of torque. In contrast, the M8 Competition with 625 PS (460 kW) and 750 Nm seems to have no chance. But can the American muscle car also implement the performance? After all, the GT500 is even 45 kg lighter than the M8 Competition. The video shows the result!
