Can you compare a 2001 BMW E46 M3 with a Mazda MX-5 from 2016? Not really! Actually ... But these two blue smurf mobiles still have to compete against each other. Both have rear-wheel drive, they are convertibles and the color somehow fits. And both belong to the operators of the YouTube channel of Throttle House. Thomas drives the 2001 E46 BMW M3 Convertible and his camera partner James drives the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata. The M3 Cabriolet with 3,2-liter in-line six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine (S54) delivers 343 hp at a weight of around 1.600 kg and is the clear favorite in terms of engine power.

Even if the coupé version of the E46 M3 is lighter, has a stiffer body, generates less aerodynamic drag, etc. It should apparently be a convertible. And James's 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata? The little Japanese convertible is known for many things, but certainly not for excellence in the Drag Racing. The Miata has received only minor modifications such as a sports exhaust system and develops 155 hp with an empty weight of 1.058 kg. Have fun watching the video!

About Thomas Wachsmuth

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
