Video: Drag race - Mercedes-AMG A45 S vs. BMW M8 Competition

Why do you let the 421 hp Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC + (W 177) compete against the much more powerful BMW M8 Competition (F92) with 625 hp? Carwow has done just that and is running several drag races. The AMG A45 S has installed the new 2,0-liter M139 engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger and, in addition to the 421 PS mentioned, it still delivers an impressive 500 NM torque. The curb weight is around 1.360 kilograms. The M8, on the other hand, has a mighty 4,4 liter bi-turbo V8 (S63) which in the competition models delivers 625 Nm of torque in addition to the 750 PS mentioned, which comes onto the road via xDrive all-wheel drive. At 1.885 kg curb weight, however, the M8 is significantly heavier. Can the AMG A45 S keep up with the M8? The answer: "It depends on the 2WD mode and the AWD mode"! But see for yourself ...
