Due to the COVID-19 pandemic (SARS-CoV-2) there is still no racing and the drift scene is also in the forced break. The British drifter Steve "Baggsy" Biagioni uses this to convert a current Nissan Navara pick-up truck into a racing car with his industrial partners. The whole thing gets even crazier when the 2,3-liter production diesel engine is being replaced by a Nissan GT-R motorsport engine with over 1.000 hp. KW automotive developed a racing chassis for the so-called “Nissan Navara-R” pick-up truck. The chassis manufacturer draws on its experience in and production of chassis for pick-up trucks and mid-size trucks for the North American automotive market with its Belltech brand and the original equipment of the Mercedes-Benz G500 4 × 4².

Nissan Navara R has been planned for a long time

SB Motorsport founder and ST brand ambassador Stephen “Baggsy” Biagioni reveals that he and his SB Motorsport team have been thinking about building the Nissan Navara R for some time. “With our numerous own projects and customer vehicles, we can build on a wealth of experience for such projects. As bitter as the shutdown is for us motorsport enthusiasts, we are simply using this time to convert and prepare for the upcoming drift season. ” A new ST suspensions drift vehicle is currently being created as the flagship for the comprehensive ST suspensions individualization program. The basis is a Nissan pick-up truck. The Navara is lowered with an ST coilover suspension in a drift version. "With the Navara-R, we are building a bridge to our ST individualization program," says KW automotive founder and managing director Klaus Wohlfarth. "With our customization options, we have already sent a strong signal in all markets." The ST coil springs and ST coilovers can already be ordered in 18 different colors.

Springs with custom marking available

The springs on various ST coilovers and springs that are adjustable in height are also available with the desired identification. And that's not all - further interesting suspension customization options will appear in the course of the year. With its power-adjustable ST dampers and high-performance racing springs, the chassis can keep the over 1000 hp pick-up truck racing car safely on the track during high-speed drift maneuvers. The more lateral forces a chassis can control, the higher cornering speeds can be driven. In the current drift sport, the drifts are deliberately initiated at speeds beyond 150 km / h. Accordingly, this sport places the highest demands on tires and chassis components. The damper technology used in the ST suspensions drift chassis has already proven itself in international GT3 touring car racing and various drift championships.

Navara-R in the next Drifteberg video?

The development of chassis components for pick-up trucks is also no unknown territory for the chassis manufacturer. KW automotive has been offering various suspension components in the most important pick-up truck markets in the USA and Canada since 2005. Perhaps the “Navara-R Pick-up Drift Truck” will also play a major role in the next “Drift Mountain Video”. In addition to Steve "Baggsy" Biagioni, the Hoonigan Racing driver and Gymkhana athlete Ken Block and Formula D-Drifter are among the ST suspected brand ambassadors to position the KW automotive brand in all important aftermarket markets.
