BMW 128ti with 265 PS! The new VW Golf GTi competitor?

On the hilly Eifel roads around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and of course directly on the most demanding race track in the world, the new compact sports car BMW 128ti is currently completing extensive set-up runs in the final test phase. Particular attention is paid to the dynamic driving behavior of the new version of the BMW 1 Series, which is consistently designed for active driving pleasure. The new model will be launched in November 2020.

Athletes with their own character.

BMW 128ti with 265 PS! The new VW Golf GTi competitor?

The front-wheel drive BMW 128ti is positioned directly below the top model of the BMW 1 Series, the BMW M135i xDrive, and also uses its newly developed 2,0-liter engine. In the BMW 128ti, the four-cylinder with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology has an output of 195 kW (265 hp), enabling sporty driving performance, such as the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 6,1 seconds. However, the new BMW 128ti is much more than just a new engine variant within the BMW 1 Series. In addition to numerous differentiating features in the exterior and interior, the entire chassis and steering were specifically tuned and applied in order to offer a decidedly sporty and driver-oriented driving dynamics. The new, exclusively front-wheel-drive compact sports car is aimed at a particularly young target group that focuses on the sheer driving pleasure that is typical of BMW.

Technical highlights for high precision and direct feedback.

The new BMW 128ti is equipped as standard with the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential, which enables better traction on the front axle. It has a specifically tuned M sports suspension that is 10 millimeters lower and BMW Performance Control that has been specially adapted for increased agility. In addition, the steering specially applied to the vehicle ensures precise reactions and provides direct feedback to the driver. In addition, the BMW 128ti is around 80 kilograms lighter than the all-wheel-drive BMW M135i xDrive, from which it takes over the highly preloaded anti-roll bar bearings and anti-roll bars. Sports tires, which are optionally available to the customer at no extra charge, ensure even more driving pleasure. The standard M Sport brake, familiar from the top model, ensures a deceleration that corresponds to the sporty driving performance.
