Luxurious hospitality, an exquisite art collection and a particularly spectacular view of the sunset on the Atlantic coast make the Ellerman House in Cape Town, South Africa, a hotel for guests with special requirements. In the future, the journey to the refuge high above Bantry Bay will be an exceptionally exclusive experience for them. A highly individualized example of the BMW 745Le xDrive luxury sedan serves as the Ellerman House's new shuttle vehicle. It was designed in the BMW Individual Manufaktur in collaboration with the South African artist and sculptor Nic Bladen. The one-off combines a luxurious driving experience with the high-quality elegance of its exterior and interior design and an artistic homage to the unique vegetation of the region around Cape Town.

Just like the luxury automobiles from Bayerische Motoren Werke, the renowned Ellerman House is also predestined to help discerning target groups achieve unique moments. A stay in the exclusive resort will also be an impressive experience thanks to the collection of contemporary South African works of art put together by hotel owner Paul Harris. A close connection between luxury ambience and enjoyment of art now gives the BMW 745Le xDrive designed for the Ellerman House its unmistakable character. It is perfected by Nic Bladen's creations. The artist, known for his replicas of South African plants made from precious metal, provided an authentic reference to his home country in the interior of the luxury sedan.

The maximum customer orientation not only leads to tailor-made products, but also to innovative solutions for a design precisely tailored to the owner's personal style. In order to guarantee the high standards of the BMW Group in terms of quality and safety, every component produced in the BMW Individual Manufaktur goes through the test procedures that are also provided for standard components.

BMW 745Le xDrive for the Ellerman House: plug-in hybrid drive, exclusive paintwork, unique interior.

The BMW 745Le xDrive serves as the basis for the unique item created in the BMW Individual Manufaktur, in which guests at the Ellerman House will in future be chauffeured. Its plug-in hybrid drive consists of an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor, which together mobilize a system output of up to 290 kW / 394 hp. Thanks to an electric range of 51 to 54 kilometers, the plug-in hybrid luxury limousine offers the possibility of driving around 25 kilometers from the airport in Cape Town to the more than 100-year-old main building of the resort with zero local emissions. Its exterior paintwork in the exclusive brass color is combined with a BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line with extended features, 20-inch M light alloy wheels in a star-spoke design and a two-tone version, and an M sports package. The brass-colored door sills bear the lettering "Ellerman House".

In the interior, the interior design Pure Excellence and the BMW Individual full Merino leather trim in the colors Tartufo / Cognac are enriched with numerous individual accents. In addition to electrically adjustable comfort seats including massage function, seat heating and active seat ventilation, the electrically operated sun blinds, the Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, the ambient light and the ambient air package contribute to maximum well-being in the rear. The door parapets, the dashboard, the headlining in Alcantara, the floor paneling and the leather-covered door entrances, as well as the covers for the seats and the A and B-pillars, are in Tartufo. The headrests and comfort pillows in the same color are embroidered with an exclusive floral decoration. The embroidery of the cushions also includes the “EH” logo on the front and the “BMW Individual Manufaktur” logo on the back. The center console, the cover of the center tunnel and the switch panels located there are covered with cognac-colored leather. The harmonious color scheme also includes the tone-on-tone seams and draws attention to the interior trim, which has been refined into unique works of art.

Natural shapes and precious metal: the flora of South Africa blooms on the interior trim.

The innovative and unique design of the interior trim for the BMW 745Le xDrive from the BMW Individual Manufaktur is the work of the South African artist Nic Bladen, who draws inspiration for his work from the characteristic flora of his home country. Following the example of wild plants, he uses plaster casts and liquid gold, silver or platinum to create detailed sculptures of leaves, flowers, roots and twigs. For the art project conceived by BMW and Ellerman House, he developed a special process in which he transferred the replicas of the plants, which were cast from precious metal, into a two-dimensional, as flat form as possible. This gradually resulted in an extensive collection of valuable prints of the selected motifs from nature, similar to a herbarium, as used by botanists for the documentation and identification of plants on the basis of dried and pressed flowers and leaves. These filigree works of art were then embedded with the greatest precision as inlays in the interior trim of the vehicle.

Bladen found his motifs for the refinement of the interior of the luxury sedan in the Fynbos ecoregion around Cape Town, which is known for its unique biodiversity. Many of the shrubs, trees, grasses and flowers that are only found there are now threatened with extinction. The most famous natural treasures of the fynbos landscape include the rooibos, from whose cultivated plant rooibos an internationally popular tea is obtained, and the protea plants, also known as sugar bushes or silver trees, whose round, often plate-sized flowers represent the heraldic flower of South Africa. With his latest works of art, Nic Bladen aims to raise awareness of the fascinating diversity of plants in the Cape region. His wish: Guests at Ellerman House, who admire the interior trim he designed while driving in the BMW 745Le xDrive, should later recognize the plants immortalized there in the great outdoors, so that they can then not only remember the luxurious driving experience for as long as possible to remember the diverse and protected vegetation of South Africa.
