In the land of the rising sun, a BMW is something very special, as in Japan the market is predominantly dominated by domestic manufacturers and imported cars are rarely found. Above all, vehicles from German and European premium brands are much more expensive than in Germany because they are burdened with high import duties and taxes. It is mostly young, wealthy men and women who buy very special pieces of jewelry from Europe to cruise the boulevards of Tokyo and who want to demonstrate their prosperity to those around them. Also in the Japanese tuning scene, which is mostly from JDM products is dominated, there is a small but fine company that specializes in refining vehicles from European premium brands.

Luxury BMW with sporty ambitions.

The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé, which is part of the Collector's Edition specially created for the Japanese market, costs roughly 15 million yenwhat converted roughly 130.000 Euros corresponds to. These Special series we will now introduce you a little more precisely so that you can get an idea. Collector's Edition, that sounds like strictly limited numbers, exclusivity and horrific prices, and some of it is also true. It has not yet been officially announced whether the edition is limited, but the series is only available as a 840i Gran Coupe available for purchase.

Surprisingly, there are four different exterior finishes to choose from, which correspond to the names Aventurine Red (Red), Azurite Black (Black), Davit Gray (Gray) and Tanzinite Blue (blue) Listen. No matter which color you choose, that M sports package and 20-inch alloy wheels with the label 729 Mwith a fashionable bi-color look are included in the price. Thus, the special model is also suitable for people with a sporty touch, but does not look too thick, so that there is still enough seriousness to be interesting for wealthy business people who value a certain understatement.

The interior is luxurious.

The interior is with ivory colored leather lined, which optically goes perfectly with the four available exterior colors, and the Headlining is made of Alcantarato create a sporty look in the interior.

In-line six-cylinder turbo gasoline engine provides propulsion.

Under the long hood of the Collector's Edition of the 8 Series Gran Coupé slumbers a 3-liter in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine with turbocharging, the 340 PS and 500 Newtonmeter maximum torque generated. Equipped in this way, the exclusive Bavarian sprints in 6,2 seconds on Tempo 100, and the top speed ends only at electronically limited 250 km/h. Incidentally, the power is transmitted via a Eight-speed automatic on the rear wheels. With the 8 Series, you can easily move at a brisk pace, even if there are speed limits in Japan that make it difficult to really hit the gas.

Our conclusion on the 8 Series Gran Coupe:

From our point of view, BMW has made a good marketing move by making a Special series for Japan, which is recognized worldwide because it simply embodies the sporty, luxurious image of the BMW 8-series perfectly.
