The IAA 2017 is imminent and shortly before that, Alpina has published the key data for the new D5 S sedan and the touring. As is well known, the basis of the BMW 5 series G30 / G31 and in the Alpina D5 S sedan, the 5 series becomes the fastest series-produced diesel in the world. This is due to the revised B57 BiTurbo six-cylinder, which now has 388 PS & 800 NM torque on all four wheels (standard with all-wheel drive xDrive) throws. This is only 4,4 seconds 100 km / h (4,6 seconds for touring) and only at a phenomenal top speed of 286 km / h, the drive in the sedan is brought to an end. Hardly slower is the Touring the still impressive 283 km / h allows, and is beaten only by the current Porsche Panamera Diesel.
Implementation does the power of the well-known ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, which was, however, extended to the Alpina Switch-Tronic. And of course, the suspension has been adjusted accordingly. In cooperation with Bilstein developed in Buchloe a sports suspension with electronically adjustable dampers, shorter and firmer springs and special wishbones on the front axle, the 1 degree negative camber bring. In addition, there is a customized Elastokinematik and who that is not enough of the optional Alpina Sport Suspension Plus grab the then even a rear axle steering (Integral Active Steering) and active roll stabilization brings. Of course there are also optical changes and so carry the Alpina models the typical front spoiler on St0sfänger front and a subtle diffuser in the rear bumper.
The visual highlight, however, is definitely the 20 inch forged wheel set, which is a good 15 kilogram lighter than a comparable cast wheel with Pirelli P Zero tires, significantly reducing unsprung weight and making the D5 S noticeably more agile. Through the spokes of the rims can be seen also a brake system from Brembo, with perforated 395 millimeter lightweight discs, and behind it are 398 millimeter discs. Of course, the optimized brake is equipped with high-performance brake pads. Last but not least the negative - the price: from 87.900 Euro there is the sedan and for touring at least 90.400 Euro are due.
