Incredible - but there hasn't been a BMW M40 for over 7 years! No matter whether E23, E32, E38, E65, F01 or the current G11 - no one has managed to get an official "M-abbreviation". The small exception is of course the strong one M760Li xDrive which is in no way inferior to a Mercedes S63 AMG or an Audi S8. Nevertheless, it is not M7! Every now and then there are a few prototypes based on the G11 with a noticeably large brake system or alleged 4 tailpipes, but we are pretty sure that a lot will come here but no M7. The only thing that helps is to lend a hand! That's exactly what Scott Johnson did (Owner of this BMW E38 740i) and built his own BMW M7.

A fabulous project based on a BMW E38 740i that we really wanted to show you. The absolute highlight of the conversion is the transplantation of the E39 M5 S62B50 engine, which uses an ESS VT-560 compressor kit, special catalytic converters, a Supersprint x-pipe and a Magnaflow rear silencer system to send heavy 560 hp to the rear wheels. In addition, the manual 6-speed gearbox of the M5 as well as a Stage 3+ 850csi clutch and a Einhorn industries differential were installed to bring the power to the road. And optically, a lot has changed in the direction of the "M".

A sporty 19 inch Racing Dynamics RS2 wheelset in combination with a custom coilover suspension ensures a dynamic appearance as well as a sporty gait. And if you look closely, the spokes of the rims also recognize a brake system adapted to the performance. The brake system of the former V12 top model 750iL has found its place in combination with perforated brake discs from Zimmermann and StopTech Stahlflex brake lines and delays the flagship adequately.

The body also got a front lip from Alpina, a roof spoiler, a rear apron modified for the sports exhaust system and BMW LED halo headlights with striking daytime running lights. And last but not least, a touch of "M" has also prevailed in the interior because the E39 M5 includes the steering wheel, the facelift instrument cluster, the gear lever, stainless steel pedals from AC Schnitzer and lots of Alcantara and golden-brown leather for the seats the F80 M3. It goes without saying that such a project still hides dozens of invisible changes and so it is not surprising that the list of modifications is extremely long.

We have therefore added all the details for the conversion below for you. We find the idea of the S62 V8 in the E38 extremely successful, and for the E1994, built from June 2001 to July 38, this motorization ex-works would have been a crowning glory. If we receive timely information about us hitherto unknown changes or further planned conversions, there is of course, as always, an update for this report. It is best to subscribe to our feed and if there is something new you will get in touch immediately. We wish you a lot of fun watching the pictures.
