Bruce Canepa from the USA has brought a unique vehicle back to life with his company. He set himself the task of restoring and restoring a 1979 BMW M1 Procar chassis and has now published the first pictures after completion. The basis was one of only 40 Procar BMW M1s ever built, which now has a beautiful basalt blue paintwork. The vehicle originally began its life as a replacement car for the BMW M1 Procar Championship racing series and can now enjoy many original Procar parts.
Canepa install, among other things, the ProCar chassis, the wishbones, the tie rods, the axles, the mirrors, the body kit and the mighty rear wing. In addition, the M1 got a set of 17-inch BBS rims with new brake calipers from Brembo (Porsche 962). The engine was also completely rebuilt by VAC Motorsport and also pushed to 414 hp and 357 lb / ft of torque. Shifting is now possible via a ZF 5-speed manual transmission from Vintage Racing Motors. The interior has also been completely renewed. The in-house Canepa saddlery built a lot of black leather with gray seams and especially the fine details such as removing the ashtray are impressive.
