Fichtenberg (Germany), June 21, 2021 - The chassis manufacturer KW automotive works closely with BMW on selected projects and special models. While the BMW M2022 GT4 racing car, which will be used in customer racing from 3, successfully completed its tests with its 5-way power-adjustable KW racing suspension, the 3-way power-adjustable KW coilover kit variant 4 is now available for the new BMW M3 (G80) and BMW M4 (G82) available with parts certificate. The stainless steel retrofit chassis with its further developed multi-valve technology dampens bumps harmoniously and comfortably. At the same time, the KW coilover kit variant 4 enables a significantly sportier road holding and even in the dynamic limit range it ensures more driving safety. The coilover suspension, which can be adjusted in the low-speed (13 clicks) and high-speed compression forces (14 clicks) as well as the low-speed rebound (16 clicks), no longer has an expansion tank thanks to its revised valve technology. The BMW M3 (G80) Sedan and the BMW M4 (G82) Coupé, which have already been lowered in series production, can be lowered by up to 4 millimeters by installing KW variant 35, which is roughly a lowering of around 60 millimeters for the BMW 3 Series (G20 ) corresponds. The recommended retail price is 4.869 euros. More at www.kwsuspensions.de

While the KW Clubsport coilover kit and the adaptive KW DDC plug & play coilover kit for the current generation of the BMW M3 (G80) sedan and the BMW M4 (G82) Coupé are already in development, the new KW coilover kit variant 4 is for the BMW M3 (G80) Sedan and the BMW M4 (G82) Coupé available. If the new BMW M3 or new BMW M4 is mostly driven on public roads in everyday life, the KW coilover kit variant 4 is the ideal retrofit kit.

Adjustable multi-valve technology for maximum driving pleasure in everyday life

"The revised variant 4 is to a certain extent a further development of our series suspension for the old BMW M4 GTS (F82) and the KW Clubsport coilover kit," says KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann. “While we were still working with an expansion tank on the M4-GTS series chassis and installing the adjustable low-speed and high-speed compression valves there; we have revised the entire damper structure for the next generation of variant 4. “On the side of the spring strut and the damper housing for the rear axle, the valves, which can be set separately in the low-speed and high-speed areas of the compression stage, are now located in a compact valve housing. "Internally, we speak of a 'three-pipe damper structure' with such a damper structure," says Jonas Ehrmann, further describing the revised damper structure of the KW coilover kit.

The gold-colored adjustment wheel can be used to adjust the damping in the high-speed compression stage with 14 clicks and the damping characteristics in the low-speed compression stage with the purple wheel with 13 clicks. If the valves are opened, the pressure level is reduced and the M4 body submerges faster. With the pressure stage, the immersion speed of the damper piston rod is influenced to a certain extent. The pressure level also has an influence on pitching and rolling movements of the body as well as the steering behavior. If the pressure level is increased, the piston rod plunges more slowly. The more stable the vehicle is when it comes to steering movements. The steering behavior becomes more precise, the tighter the compression setting is. The low-speed rebound stage, which can also be set on the KW coilover kit variant 4, has a direct influence on the working speed when the piston rod rebounds.

With its 16 clicks, it controls how quickly the chassis spring relaxes back to its original position. So to speak, the diameters of the rebound valves are opened for a more comfortable driving behavior and closed for a tighter adjustment. Braking, accelerating and steering are, for example, low-speed suggestions in everyday driving. The preset Sport + set-up of variant 4 can be changed to a comfort-oriented road setup with just a few clicks. “When driving, the typical high-speed stimuli occur when the bike rolls over bumps or cross joints. Anyone who drives quickly on a poorly developed road has probably already noticed how the entire car becomes restless. With a chassis that has dampers with adjustable multi-valve technology, on the other hand, much more calm can be brought to the entire body structure, even with a sporty set-up, ”explains KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann.

Infinitely adjustable in the lowering

The KW coilover kit variant 4 also offers the option of maximum lowering. According to the parts certificate, an additional lowering of 4 to 20 millimeters on the front axle and 35 to 15 millimeters on the rear axle is possible despite the BMW M30 body being lowered ex works. The KW variant 4 also offers the same adjustment range in terms of lowering for the BMW M3 Sedan (G80). “This corresponds roughly to a lowering of 50 millimeters for the BMW 4 Series Coupé (G22) and 60 millimeters for the BMW 3 Series Sedan (G20),” continues Jonas Ehrmann. The recommended retail price for the 3-way power adjustable KW coilover kit variant 4 is 4.869 euros.
