BMW M3 & M4 as 50 years of BMW M edition models!

Within the framework of spectacular events, with sensational new models and together with its global community, BMW M GmbH is celebrating the first five decades of its existence over the past few weeks and months. On May 24, 1972, the articles of association for BMW Motorsport GmbH were signed. Exactly 50 years later to the day, the company now known as BMW M GmbH is presenting an exclusive collection of edition models as a current anniversary highlight.

50 years of BMW M edition models

With the BMW M 50 Years Edition of the BMW M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Coupé, M enthusiasts around the world can express both their passion for racing and their awareness of tradition. A limited edition, exclusive design features and individually selectable special equipment ensure that each edition vehicle can become a unique piece shaped by the personal style of its owner.

The BMW M 50 Years Edition is based on the current generation of the most successful series in the history of BMW M GmbH. The model designations BMW M3 and BMW M4 are synonymous worldwide with high performance in the premium segment of the middle class. The edition models are powered by a six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and high-revving characteristics that delivers up to 375 kW/510 hp transmitted to the rear wheels or distributed fully variably to all four wheels by means of M xDrive.

The exclusive character of the edition models results from a market-specific configuration with independent design features and a strictly limited number of items. This is how fascinating rarities are created for the most important automobile markets around the world. Style-defining colors from the history of BMW M GmbH are being reissued for the exterior paintwork of the edition vehicles. There are also M forged wheels in an equally exclusive color scheme and striking accents in the interior.

exclusive edition of the BMW M4 Coupé

In Europe and other selected sales regions, BMW M GmbH is offering an exclusive edition of the BMW M4 Coupé to mark its anniversary. The two-door BMW M 50 Years Edition comes in the exterior colors carbon black, Macao blue, Brands Hatch grey, Imola red and San Marino blue. The 19-inch front axle and 20-inch rear axle M forged wheels in double-spoke design also contribute to their expressive appearance. They are available for the first time in the colors orbit gray matt and gold bronze matt. In addition, a limited number of edition vehicles of the BMW M4 Coupé will also be produced for the Chinese automobile market, available in fire orange and stratus gray exterior finishes.

This color selection refers to the fact that the anniversary of BMW M GmbH is being celebrated in China in the year of the tiger. The M forged wheels on these vehicles come in matt orbit gray in conjunction with the fire orange body finish and in matt gold bronze in conjunction with the stratus gray exterior. In the interior of all edition vehicles based on the BMW M4 Coupé, door sills bear the lettering "Edition 50 Years BMW M", a metal plaque on the center console bearing the inscription "M4 Edition 50 Years BMW M" and a corresponding label on the headrests the standard M sports seats and the optional M carbon bucket seats for driver and front passenger to mark the anniversary.

The edition model based on the BMW M3 Sedan was designed exclusively for the US and Canadian automobile markets. There are five exterior paint finishes to choose from for the 500 examples of the four-door high-performance sports car available there, each of which is reminiscent of one of its five predecessor models: from vermillion to techno violet, interlagos blue and fire orange to lime rock grey. All body colors are combined with M forged wheels in matt Orbit Gray and selected BMW M Performance Parts. The components inspired by racing in terms of design and technology, which are also included in the equipment of the anniversary edition, include the BMW M Performance carbon front splitter, the BMW M Performance carbon rear spoiler and the BMW M Performance carbon/titanium tailpipe trims.

chic door sills and M stripes

The lettering "Edition 50 Jahre BMW M" on the door sills and M stripes on the headrests of the front and outer rear seats characterize the interior. In addition, an exclusive seam pattern adorns both the standard M sports seats and the optionally available M carbon bucket seats of the edition vehicles. A metal plaque on the cupholder cover of the center console bears the inscription "M3 Edition 50 Years BMW M" and the note "1/500".
