Most powerful production BMW so far: the BMW M5 CS (F90) is here!

It's finally here! The BMW M5 CS! After various leaks (also from BMW itself) there was a final leak yesterday cochespias and wilcoblok on Instagram and now it's finally official. With the BMW M5 CS, BMW M GmbH is continuing the series of particularly sporty CS models. The limited and exclusive special model offers four passengers a unique driving experience and combines outstanding performance with an exclusive and luxurious appearance. The 4,4-liter V8 engine with 467 kW / 635 hp makes the BMW M5 CS the most powerful vehicle in the history of BMW M. The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system are also standard 2WD setting for pure rear-wheel drive.

Consistent lightweight construction enables weight savings of around 70 kilograms compared to the BMW M5 Competition. Newly tuned suspension springs on the front and rear axles and a further refined damper control adapt the chassis to the lower vehicle weight and the increased tire potential of the standard Pirelli P Zero Corsa Track tires in mixed format 275/35 R 20 at the front and 285/35 R 20 at the rear . The BMW M5 CS completes the standard sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 3,0 seconds, and after 10,3 seconds it has already reached 200 km / h. The maximum speed is 305 km / h (limited).

four people sit on M carbon seats

The unique driving experience of the BMW M5 CS can be enjoyed by four people on M carbon seats in the front and two individual seats in the rear. The black Merino leather (fine-grain front) has striking contrasting surfaces and decorative stitching in Mugello red. The integrated headrests - with illuminated M5 logos at the front - are adorned with a silhouette of the legendary Nürburgring. In the M Alcantara steering wheel, the 12 o'clock center marking in a red, translucent perforation is a reference to classic racing cars, the shift paddles are made of carbon, and the trim on the steering wheel spokes is made of black chrome.

Center console with lightweight cover

A closed, lightweight cover on the center console replaces the usual fold-out center armrest. It is covered with black Merino leather and has double red stitching. The color red can also be found on CS badges on the instrument panel and between the two rear seat shells. The frame of the BMW kidney grille and the BMW M5 CS badges on the kidney grille, the M gills on the front fenders and the tailgate are like the 20-inch M forged wheel Y-spoke (front: 9,5 J x 20, rear: 10,5 J x 20) executed in extroverted gold bronze. The door sills have illuminated M5 CS badges.

180.400 euros - not a bargain, as expected

The L-shaped light tubes of the BMW laser headlights shine in yellow instead of white when the dipped and main beams are switched on and with the Welcome Light, as in motorsport, and are reminiscent of successful GT racing cars. The bonnet, front splitter, exterior mirror caps, rear spoiler and rear diffuser of the BMW M5 CS as well as the M Power engine cover and the intake silencer are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) and some of carbon fiber.

The M5 CS sports exhaust system made of stainless steel with four puristic tailpipes and the M carbon-ceramic brakes, the brake calipers are painted in red or gold on request, are standard. In addition to the Brands Hatch Gray metallic color, the matt BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Brands Hatch Gray metallic and Frozen Deep Green metallic are exclusively available. The market launch will begin in spring 2021, the price in Germany is 180.400 euros.

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
