Paul Rosche is a name that every BMW enthusiast knows, because no other engine developer has contributed as much to the legendary reputation of the brand as the former engine guru. And a video recently published by BMW Classic reveals that Rosche also had a penchant for speed in his private life: he had a company car built for himself based on the BMW 7 Series E32, which today would probably be known as the BMW M7. Under the hood of the powerful 7 Series is a version of the BMW S38 engine that was optimized by Paul Rosche himself. The original 3,8-liter in-line six-cylinder, also known as the S38B38, was expanded to 4,9-liter displacement and then brought about 390 PS on the road, which even exceeded the performance of the M5 at that time by 50 hp.

Externally, however, he kept it rather understated, as the prototype looks like any other 5 Series except for the M7 rims. Inside, on the other hand, the differences are greater, as the specific E32 sports numerous M logos, including those on the shifter for the five-speed manual gearbox, the steering wheel and the speedometer. The infotainment system consisted of a C-net telephone and a "fax machine" in the glove compartment. And from minute 4:50 the video from BMW Classic shows another special 7 Series, the so-called Goldfish, which with its 6,7 liter engine, unbelievable 16 cylinders and a cooling system that has been completely moved to the rear area, has a top speed of 280 km/h. h, but never went beyond prototype status.
