BMW wants to achieve with the new F93 M8 necessarily the balancing act between high practicality and best performance on the racetrack. Supposedly even more than with the F90 M5. That's why the new M8 goes a step further. The iDrive ID7 system is designed to allow the M8 with extensive setting options fast lap times on the track. Like the M3 or the M5, the M8 will also be able to control the setup from the cockpit to influence the characteristics of the engine, transmission, steering, suspension and DSC. As an innovation, the behavior of the brake should be adjusted in the BMW M8. Brake control, brake booster and brake control are combined in a compact module on the M8 and the brake is even 2 kilograms lighter than a normal brake system.

The pressure on the brake is triggered by an electric actuator, with the result that a particularly rapid build-up of the brake pressure is achieved. Faster and more accurate DSC braking interventions are the result. In order to enable a different braking characteristic compared to the road on the racetrack, the M GmbH wants to offer for the first time an option to adjust the brake via the menu. A gentle and largely normal braking is to enable the comfort mode and for the Hatz on the track there is the sport mode of direct response. The electronics should ensure that the feedback is always the same in wet conditions or at high brake temperatures. It will give the adjustable brake as a series brake and also in the form of the optional M carbon-ceramic system. We are curious what the M8 will show on the racetrack.

Of course that had not happened yet!
