With its unmistakable combination of exclusivity, driving dynamics, spaciousness and versatility, the BMW X7 has quickly become the brand's most successful model in the luxury segment. The unique character of the largest Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is now accompanied by an extensively further developed design, which primarily includes a particularly expressive front section, a newly designed M sports package, up to 23-inch light-alloy wheels ex works for the first time at BMW and the iDrive operating system of the latest Generation including the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Operating System 8. In addition, the new BMW X7 has even more standard equipment, additional driver assistance systems and the latest 48-volt mild hybrid technology for the three engine variants available.

BMW X7 (G07/LCI)

The new BMW X7 is a central element of the current product offensive in the range of the premium automobile manufacturer's most exclusive models. It is produced at the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg, the competence center for BMW X models in the US state of South Carolina. The worldwide market launch of the new BMW X7 begins in August 2022.

Exterior design: exclusive appearance, progressive style.

Thanks to its versatile properties, the largest BMW X model impresses both with its elegant appearance on the road and with its off-road qualities. Its extensively modified design now emphasizes the exclusivity of its appearance even more intensively. It also underscores more clearly than ever that the new BMW X7 is one of the brand's top models. The redesigned front section focuses on the characteristic BMW design features of the twin headlights and the BMW kidney grille, the reinterpretation of which emphasizes the upright stature of the vehicle and reinforces its presence on the road.

Two-part headlight units are used for the first time in the new BMW X7. Outsourced horizontal LED light elements in the upper area of ​​the front are responsible for the position and daytime running lights as well as the direction indicators. The LED units for the low beam and high beam arranged underneath, with their dark housing and the position deeply embedded in the front apron, recede into the background and only appear when they are activated. The new adaptive matrix LED headlights with glare-free high beam and adaptive light distribution now also take over the function of the fog lights with their automatic poor-weather light.

Discreet waterfall lighting for the two elements of the BMW kidney grille ensures a particularly extravagant expression in the front view of the new BMW X7, both when stationary and while driving. The BMW kidney grille "Iconic Glow" is part of the standard equipment of the top model BMW X7 M60i xDrive and is offered as an option for the other model variants. At the rear, the progressive style is emphasized by the now three-dimensionally modeled and particularly flat light units. The elegant chrome clasp that connects the rear lights is framed by an elegant glass casing on the new BMW X7.

Optionally, the redesigned M sports package expresses the driving dynamics of the BMW X7 even more intensely. With M-specific design features for the exterior and interior, the performance characteristics of the BMW X7 M60i xDrive are also clearly emphasized. The paint finish in the M Marina Bay Blue metallic variant is available exclusively for the BMW M automobile. Also new in the range of exterior colors: Sparkling copper gray metallic. 20-inch light-alloy wheels are standard on the new BMW X7. As the top model and in conjunction with the M sports package, it has 21-inch M light-alloy wheels. For the first time, 23-inch alloy wheels are available ex works as an option for a BMW model.

Generous room comfort, expanded standard equipment.

The generous amount of space in the new BMW X7 can be enjoyed on three rows of seats. The second row offers space for three passengers as standard or two particularly comfortable individual seats as an option. The driver and front passenger now have heated comfort seats as standard. The BMW Individual extended Merino leather trim is part of the standard equipment on the European automobile markets. In other markets, standard equipment includes seat surfaces in the new Sensafin finish (not available in Europe). This high-quality, vegan surface material with leather-like properties features exclusive, three-dimensional quilting and perforated surfaces.

The redesigned instrument panel with flat air vents and the standard ambient light strip in the lower area, together with the BMW Curved Display, contributes to the modern style in the cockpit, which is characterized by advanced digitization. The innovative light bar supplements the ambient light, which is also standard. Its effective backlighting using LED units and a graphic pattern including the lettering "X7" or the M logo in the new BMW X7 M60i xDrive is an integral part of the situation-dependent light show and enhances the exclusive flair of the interior. The gear selector also has a new and particularly modern design.

The standard equipment, which has been further expanded in the new BMW X7, also ensures groundbreaking comfort and maximum well-being. In addition to the 4-zone automatic air conditioning, the three-part panoramic glass roof and the hi-fi loudspeaker system, it also includes the comfort seats for the driver and front passenger, a sports leather steering wheel with shift paddles and a new holder for wireless charging of suitable mobile phones. The highlights in the range of optional extras include the Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof illuminated by LED units, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System and the newly designed Travel & Comfort System. Active seat ventilation and a massage function are available for the driver and front passenger. With the new comfort package, the seats in the second and third rows, the steering wheel and the armrests for the driver and front passenger can also be heated.

Newly developed engines with the latest 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

At the top of the drive portfolio is a new 4,4-liter V8 petrol engine for the top model BMW X7 M60i xDrive, which was derived from the engines of the high-performance models from BMW M GmbH. M TwinPower Turbo technology and a cross-bank exhaust manifold help the 390 kW/530 hp engine, which has a maximum torque of 750 Nm, to deliver impressive power.

A straight-six engine of the latest generation makes its debut in the new BMW X7 xDrive40i. It has numerous innovations in the areas of combustion, gas exchange, valve control, injection and the ignition system, which increase both performance and efficiency. Compared to the previous model, the new drive generates maximum output that is 35 kW/47 hp up to 280 kW/380 hp and maximum torque that is 70 up to 520 Nm, which can be increased to up to 540 Nm by the additional output of the mild hybrid system can.

A detailed further development also optimizes the consumption and emission behavior of the six-cylinder in-line diesel engine used in the new BMW X7 xDrive40d. The maximum output of its drive system is 259 kW/352 hp. The nominal torque of the diesel engine is 700 Nm and can increase up to 720 Nm with the additional output of the mild hybrid system. The most important thing the three engines have in common is the integration of a new generation of 48-volt mild hybrid technology. The latest form of this type of electrification consists of a crankshaft starter generator integrated into the transmission and contributes an additional output of 9 kW/12 hp and an additional torque of 200 Nm. All engines are now combined with an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission including shift paddles on the steering wheel and a sprint function. Your power is transferred to the road via the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system and, if required, also to unpaved terrain.

High-quality chassis technology optimizes agility and comfort.

In addition to the adaptive two-axle air suspension, an adaptive chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers also comes as standard for brand-typical dynamics and a high level of comfort over long distances. The standard equipment of the new BMW X7 M60 xDrive also includes integral active steering and the Executive Drive Pro system with active roll stabilization. Both systems and the xOffroad package are optionally available for the six-cylinder models.

All chassis systems have been retuned with the aim of achieving a maximum range between sportiness and driving comfort. The standard equipment of the BMW X7 M60i xDrive also includes 21-inch M light-alloy wheels and an M sport differential in the rear axle drive. The six-cylinder models have 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. The new BMW X7 is the brand's first model to be optionally available ex works with 23-inch light-alloy wheels.

Extended selection of driver assistance systems.

Comfort and safety can be further increased in the new BMW X7 with a significantly larger number of systems for automated driving and parking. The innovations include the expansion of the range of functions for the front collision warning, which now also reduces the risk of collision with cyclists and pedestrians as well as oncoming vehicles when turning. In conjunction with the optionally available Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, the automatic Speed ​​Limit Assist, route control and traffic light recognition are now also available. Also new is the exit warning, which indicates a risk of collision when the doors are opened.

The range of functions of the standard Parking Assistant includes the reversing camera and the reversing assistant. In conjunction with the optional Parking Assistant Professional, the reversing assistant can now take over the steering tasks at a distance of up to 200 meters. In addition, the new trailer assistant makes it easier to reverse when driving a trailer. The new maneuvering assistant. can save shunting maneuvers with a distance of up to 200 meters each. When you arrive at the respective starting point again, the maneuvering assistant then takes over the entire driving task, including accelerating, braking, steering and changing between forward and reverse gear. The driver can concentrate on monitoring the surroundings during the automated maneuvering.

The latest generation of BMW iDrive with BMW Curved Display.

The standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus in the new BMW X7 includes the latest version of the BMW iDrive display and control system. It is based on the BMW Operating System 8 and includes a BMW Curved Display consisting of a 12,3-inch Information Display and a Control Display with a screen diagonal of 14,9 inches. With the new display network and the continuously increasing capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the new BMW iDrive is consistently geared towards touch operation and gesture control as well as dialogue using natural language.

The cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system can optionally be supplemented with the Augmented View function on the Control Display. The optional BMW Digital Key Plus offers the option of unlocking and locking the new BMW X7 using the security-optimized ultra-wideband radio technology (UWB) with the Apple iPhone. In addition, optimized smartphone integration, the personalized BMW ID and an eSIM designed for the new 7G mobile communications standard can be used in the new BMW X5.
