Have you ever heard of the tuner? Classic coachworks from Basingstoke Hampshire (England)? For the BMW Z3 Roadster (E36 / 7), the boys have an AC Cobra replica kit at the start that, if desired, transforms the Munich man into a classic Cobra. Strictly speaking, there are even several kits with different looks. And if you are not technically gifted and would like to do the conversion yourself, you can do so for GBP 2.950 (USD 3.765). For this amount you get the complete kit. Then of course you still need a BMW Z3 Roadster! Incidentally, the replica kit does not refer to a specific AC Cobra replica, but is specially tailored to the properties of the Z3 and trimmed to the best possible Cobra look. And this has the advantage that the body parts only have to be replaced. In other words, if you remove the front apron, fenders, bonnet, rear side walls and the rear apron, you can install the replica kit at the original attachment points.

As a result, retrofitting is also possible at any time. And especially if the base vehicle is a Z3 M with 321 hp (S50 B32) or 325 hp (S54 B32 engine) that should be an interesting thing. In our opinion, the look is really good. We really like the large grille, the round headlights, the distinctive gills and the bonnet with an aerial view. And the rear is also an eye-catcher with the flared jaws and the optional rear apron in raw optics. You should only pay attention to which wheel set you are deciding on and that this adequately fills the clearly displayed wheel arches. This is not really the case with the photo vehicle in red, and the setup on the rear axle is particularly inappropriate. A wider wheelset and a subtle lowering certainly ensure a more appropriate appearance here.

By the way, Classic Coachworks manufactures the new body parts from glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) and on the pictures it looks as if the conversion can be carried out on your own. And even for the interior, you have some components for a Cobra look ready. On request, there is a new dashboard with classic round instruments and a - getting used to - Panel for the center console. In our opinion, the most beautiful component here is the classic 3-spoke wooden steering wheel. The rest is pretty "well" and should perhaps stay the original BMW. But like the complete conversion kit, it's all a matter of taste in the end. If we receive more information about the Cobra replica kit in a timely manner, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
