BMW Z3 M Coupe "Clown Shoe" with 2JZ engine!

The fact is besides the current one Giant kidney BMWs and the E65 7er VorFacelift, the Z3 M Coupé is one of the visually craziest vehicles from BMW's repertoire. If not the strangest car in decades. Developer Dr. Burkhard Göschel not only wanted a roadster, but also a vehicle that was extremely easy to drive. The result was a converted Z3 Roadster prototype that was transformed into a coupé with foam and foil and convinced the BMW bosses for series production. But even Göschel's planning was not as extreme as this Z3 M 'Clown Shoe' Coupé. Instead by Desmond Rudman, the Stefan Kotzé from Speedhunters magazine visited. He built this Z3 M Coupé with his son Jonathan, who owns the company Rapid garage heard. And they were already for the Pandem Widebody BMW M3 with Maserati V8 responsible.

2JZ with GT3076 turbocharger

The company from Boksburg in South Africa has specialized in such conversions and is now showing the next one-off. At first there were thoughts of charging the built-in S54 engine in the E36 / 8, but the expensive idea was quickly discarded. Instead, the plan arose to install a 2JZ-GTE. But of course not in series production! So there were countless changes (Cylinder head, intake manifold, GT3076 turbocharger, Rapid intercooler, Mines Wastegate, DeatschWerks 960cc injectors, 100mm throttle valve, Chevrolet LS1 ignition coils, stainless steel manifold, 89mm exhaust system with OEM M3 tailpipes etc.) to give the engine a powerful boost. Depending on the configuration of the Spitronics Mercury2 control unit, the Z3 M Coupé is pushed forward with at least 300 kW (400 PS) or a maximum of 400 kW (536 PS) "on the wheel".

Engine power of about 600 HP!

In the ideal case, this should correspond to an engine output of a good 600 hp. The power comes from a Toyota Hilux D4D diesel gearbox and a 6-puck copper clutch on the rear wheels and the entire engine can even be replaced upgraded become. And visually it is just as extensive. But this can only be seen at second glance. Desmonds Z3 M Coupé got a KW Variant 2 Inox-Line coilover kit for lowering and Yokohama Advan A048 semi slicks in the format 225 / 35R18 front and 265 / 30R18 rear ensure proper contact with the road. The wheelset was mounted on ultra-light motorsport rims with a central locking look. And for improved deceleration, the factory sports brake system was equipped with Ferodo Racing brake pads. The biggest change, however, is the complete paint job.

Maserati Blu Passione Pearl paintwork

This is actually a new paint coat and not, as initially assumed, a film. In particular, it is the “Maserati Blu Passione Pearl” color with a matt clear varnish that looks particularly good on the sneaker in combination with the new main headlights, the black kidneys and gills or the large towing eye at the rear. And the cabin has also changed slightly. There were additional Prosport displays to monitor the engine, there was a new gear lever and a different gear knob for the Toyota gearbox mentioned. And finally ... an unbelievable vehicle that will not lose value, especially with regard to the possibility of retrofitting even with tuning.
