Two years ago in May, the Japanese company presented us Rowen International a spectacular in-house Sports exhaust system for the current Subaru WRX STI (4 generation), especially with the 4 blue burnt tailpipes including ROWEN logos, was an absolute highlight at the rear of the STI. Exactly this sports exhaust system was now also on a presentation vehicle for Tokyo Auto Salon its place, but this time it was only "a" part of the completely redesigned vehicle. Rowen presented his completely newly developed body kit for the 300 PS strong car from Japan. While the production vehicle is already very conspicuous, with a bonnet including a large air inlet and a huge rear spoiler, the body kit goes one better in every respect. The STi gets a completely redesigned front bumper with LED daytime running lights and a new grille without a Subaru emblem.
The indicators and the standard fog lights are still located in the new bumper, but the air vents seem even larger than those ex works. Rowen sets optically chic accents by means of a carbon air inlet in the bonnet and carbon headlight covers & struts in the NoName grille. The fenders installed here have also been newly developed and have small air openings on the side of the bonnet and large openings in the rear, as well as being perfectly adapted to the new bumper. At the side, new side skirts were installed, including additional sill approaches, and the rear was also completely redesigned. To match the standard rear spoiler, the WRX has a beefy bumper including an integrated diffuser and enough space for an optional sports exhaust system, and there is also space for two additional spoiler lips on the massive rear. While one spoiler lip is placed directly on the trunk lid, the other is located at what feels like 2,50 m height on the outermost edge of the standard rear wing.
And an in-house wheelset was also installed on the WRX, but we have not yet had any information on this. The rims with their matt gold surface, including the 10-spoke design, fit perfectly into the vehicle and, at around 19 inches, should not have any disadvantages in terms of driving dynamics. Of course, a significant lowering was installed, because this is the only way the body kit and the new wheelset really come into their own. The STi is rounded off with the sports exhaust system already mentioned above, including its striking blue-burned tailpipes. If we get more information about the modifications to the WRX STi, there is of course, as always, an update for this report.
