BRABUS has decades of experience in refining the various Mercedes G-Class models. This also included extremely off-road variants such as the spectacular BRABUS 700 6 × 6 with twin rear axles or the BRABUS 550 ADVENTURE 4 × 4². The new Heavy Duty Off Road Supercar BRABUS 850 6.0 Biturbo 4 × 4² Final Edition "1 of 5" is based on the Mercedes G 63 AMG of the recently replaced W 463 series. Maximum off-road suitability is achieved through high ground clearance and the maximum twisting of both axles. For this purpose, the BRABUS engineers and technicians converted the five-door model to the portal axles specially developed for this purpose. In addition, a specially coordinated damping system is used. As further modifications to the body, which are essential for maximum off-road capability, robust underrun protection elements were installed at the front and rear.

At first glance, the mighty BRABUS carbon fender flares stand out, creating space for the 9.5 J x 22 body-colored wheels with Pirelli Scorpion ATR off-road 325 / 55 R 22 tires. Also characteristic of the Off Road Supercar are the BRABUS roof spoiler above the windshield, which is equipped with daytime running lights on the left and right, and the rear spoiler with integrated auxiliary brake light. There are also visible carbon fiber components such as the bezels, which frame the special, black-tinted headlamps with integrated turn signals and the covers on the front fenders for the series turn signals which have become superfluous. The BRABUS logo sits in a special carbon grille.

The powerful engine hood, which is also made of high-tech composite, reveals that a particularly powerful heart beats under the bonnet: Displacement can best be replaced by even more displacement. This has been a core philosophy of BRABUS engine engineers for decades. Therefore, this principle was also applied to all Mercedes-Benz models that are factory-fitted with the 5,5 liter V8 Biturbo. The result was the BRABUS 850 6.0 Biturbo engine, which was also adapted for the G 63 AMG of the previous series. The increase in capacity of the standard 5 461 cm³ to 5 912 cm³ is achieved by boring the cylinders in BRABUS state-of-the-art engine construction as well as the installation of eight forged pistons with 99 millimeter diameter. They are connected to a fully milled and fully balanced crankshaft with 96 instead of normal 90,5 millimeter hub. In addition, the two cylinder heads are optimized in terms of flow.

In addition, the charging system has been upgraded with high-performance components. Instead of the two series turbos, superchargers with a larger compressor unit and modified exhaust manifolds are used. In order to lower the charge air temperature even further, the intake and charge pressure pipes made of carbon are sometimes given a special, immediately eye-catching “Gold Heat Reflection” coating. Since the displacement engine also requires more breathing air, the BRABUS engine engineers developed a special 850 intake module for this engine conversion, which contains an air filter housing with an enlarged intake cross-section. The air scoop on the bonnet not only creates more space at the top, but also optimizes the fresh air supply through its central air inlet and a sophisticated air control system. On the exhaust side, metal catalytic converters and the BRABUS sports exhaust system contribute to optimum performance.

In addition, the exhaust system provides a variable engine sound. Thanks to the integrated flap control, the driver can choose between a vigorous V8 sound in sport mode or discrete sound in "coming home" mode at the touch of a button on the steering wheel. The exhaust system made entirely of stainless steel is visually a treat as well: with two black chrome-plated tailpipes left and right in front of the rear wheels, the exhaust system also sets visually exciting accents. In line with the new engine hardware, the software has also been adapted: the BRABUS engine engineers and electronics technicians reconfirmed the electronic engine management in the course of extensive test bench and driving tests. Not only an outstanding power development was considered: maximum stability and an exemplary exhaust behavior were also among the top priorities in the specifications of the developers.

Six liters of displacement and two turbochargers complement each other to form another special class BRABUS engine: 625 kW / 850 PS at just 5 rpm are just as much a top value for off-road vehicles as the enormous maximum torque of 400 Nm, which is between 1 and 450 2 tours are available. The entire drive train is operated exclusively with high-performance lubricants from technology partner Motul. Motorized in this way, the BRABUS Off Road Supercar realizes an acceleration capacity that can compete with thoroughbred sports cars. 500 seconds from 4 - 500 km / h is an absolute top value for an off-road vehicle. The top speed is electronically limited to 4,7 km / h due to the off-road tires. In the in-house saddlery, a BRABUS fine leather full leather interior was made in the finest black leather. The particularly soft and breathable Mastik leather was not only provided with an elaborate, millimeter-precise perforation on the seat inner panels, but also precisely stitched in a square pattern. Every second diagonal row is underlaid with blue leather, which makes this design even more unusual. The piping and the embroidered BRABUS logos in the interior are also in the same color.

A BRABUS single seat system with all imaginable comfort functions such as multi-contour adjustment, memory and integrated seat ventilation and heating replaces the standard rear seat. There is space between the two seats for the new BRABUS center console, which has the same design as the rest of the interior. On the top, the BRABUS Touch Control Panel in 4,3 inch format has been embedded within easy reach, which shows a clock with a BRABUS 850 illustration in standby mode.

In addition to the control of all seat functions in the rear, this innovative control element also allows access to the standard COMAND system and the regulation of the air conditioning system. A smart phone or a tablet can be supplied with charging current via a USB multimedia interface that has been inserted at the top of the console. Two integrated cupholders cool or warm the drinks of the rear passengers. Another important feature of the console is the integrated security compartment. Only after entering a code on the Touch Control Panel, this drawer opens electrically forward. Exclusive, also square quilted floor savers and the similarly designed trunk mat in black leather complete the noble BRABUS interior.
