No Bugatti automobile drives faster. With a top speed of 440 km/h, the Chiron Super Sport 300+1 is the spearhead of Bugatti's production automobiles. Now the last automobile of the small series limited to 30 units has been delivered to its new owner. The homage to the high-speed record of 304,773 mph (490,484 km/h) is a masterpiece of engineering. With a body made of visible carbon and accents in Jet Orange as well as its long tail, it sets new standards in longitudinal acceleration.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300 +
When Bugatti's Pilote Officiel Andy Wallace broke the 300-mile mark in the summer of 2019 in a Chiron Super Sport 300+, it was a sensation: never before had a production vehicle reached such a high speed. Since then, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ has occupied a place in automotive history - as a milestone in the pursuit of more power and higher speeds.
Shortly after the world record and on the occasion of the company's 110th anniversary, Bugatti promised to produce 30 examples of the record-breaking car for customers. “In the long history of Bugatti there are always vehicles that define their era. The Type 35 changed racing, the Type 41 Royale redefined opulence, the Type 57 SC Atlantic set new standards for design. Now there's the Chiron Super Sport 300+, which reaches speeds long thought impossible for a production vehicle," says Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles. “His achievements have secured him legendary status not only in the Bugatti history books. We are delighted that all 30 copies have been delivered to some of our most passionate customers.”
In order to reach the top speed of 304,773 mph (490,484 km/h) and meet the extreme technical requirements, Bugatti engineers and designers redeveloped the Chiron Super Sport 300+. The engineering team optimized the 8,0 liter W16 engine and increased the output by 100 hp for a total of 1.600 hp. In addition, they redeveloped the thermal management for the engine and transmission, among other things, and optimized the software for the engine, transmission, drive train and turbocharger. A major design focus was on improved aerodynamics and stability - essential for a hyper sports car with a top speed of 440 km/h.
The Chiron Super Sport 300+ stays true to the design language of the Chiron, but has a "long tail". The rear, which has been lengthened by around 25 centimetres, guides the laminar flow longer along the body, thereby reducing the aerodynamic stall by more than 40 percent. Air curtains adorn the front of the hyper sports car on both sides to guide the air backwards and to the side of the vehicle. In addition, the air outlets on the wheel arches and behind the front wheels reduce air turbulence at the wheel arches, so that a slight forward downforce is generated and drag is reduced.
The generous use of visible carbon fibers in the Chiron Super Sport 300+ extends to the engine cover and windscreen wipers, thus contributing to weight savings. Details such as the "macaron" made of real silver and black enamel increase the exclusivity. The extremely light and stable magnesium alloy wheels are painted in the special color "Nocturne". All 30 copies of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ have now been delivered, each of them a unique piece of automotive history and one of the fastest and most technically advanced cars in the world.
