Special model: Bugatti Chiron Sport "Les Légend du Ciel"!

Company founder Ettore Bugatti admired the fearlessness and technical understanding of his drivers early on, who, like him, are fascinated by high speeds - and also master them. The racing drivers on the road benefit from the experience in the aircraft cockpit. They in turn admired Ettore Bugatti for his talent as an engineer and were fascinated by his agile, light and fast vehicles that reflected the performance of the aircraft in the sky on the road. Roland Garros even called him the “incomparable artist who is the only one who knows how to bring steel to life.” Ettore Bugatti is enthusiastic about aviation. Around 1915 he designed aircraft engines and from 1937 even developed a complete aircraft that was supposed to break speed records. The project is discontinued because of the outbreak of the Second World War. Ettore Bugatti kept in close personal contact with the pilots throughout his life.

The edition “Les Légend du Ciel”!

Bugatti is honoring these legends of the skies with the “Les Légende du Ciel” edition, limited to 20 vehicles, based on the Chiron Sport. The new edition takes up many of the features of historical aircraft in which the Bugatti pilots gained valuable experience. In addition to the unusual paint color, this includes, among other things, a special full leather interior with hand-drawn sketches and pearl-cut aluminum.

Special paintwork on "Les Légend du Ciel"

A striking distinguishing feature of the Chiron Sport “Les Légend du Ciel” is its special matt gray “Gris Serpent” paintwork, a modern interpretation of the exterior color of the aircraft from the 1920s. This stretches across the entire vehicle and is traversed from the front to the rear via the retractable rear wing with a high-contrast, white, glossy central strip. The “Les Légend du Ciel” logo is located on both front fenders. The tricolor "Le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge" with the colors blue, white and red adorns the front area of ​​the side skirts made of black carbon fiber.

Black horseshoe grille

The horseshoe-shaped radiator grille also shines in black. The grilles of the radiator grille are made of laser-cut and deep-drawn aluminum, on which the dynamic pattern of the stitching on the leather seats is repeated, reminiscent of planes flying in formation in an air parade. The door entry lights project the edition logo onto the asphalt when the door is opened. The new special model is also characterized by a door sill strip made of brushed aluminum with the words “Les Légend du Ciel” on the door sills. The engine cover of the W16 engine is made of black carbon fiber. The light components are contrasted with white lettering. At the rear, black carbon fiber and a black-coated exhaust cover made of 3D-printed, high-temperature-resistant Inconel dominate.

Interior almost entirely lined in leather

The interior is also optically based on the aviation of the past century. Bugatti covers the Chiron Sport “Les Légend du Ciel” completely with fine leather in the color “Gaucho”. The light brown leather is reminiscent of the natural leather of the aircraft of that time. The natural material is only contrasted by aluminum trim parts, an aluminum insert with the logo “Les Légend du Ciel”, which can also be found on the headrests, and the limitation “1 of 20”. As an option, Bugatti offers comfort seats and the “Sky View” glass roof - through which passengers can look up at the sky like on open planes of the past century. On the door panels there is a hand-sketched racing scene between the Nieuport 17 aircraft and a Bugatti Type 13, which symbolizes the two souls honored by the edition.

The Nieuport 17 is a very special aircraft: it is a French biplane built from 1916 onwards, which was very popular with its pilots for its reliability, speed, agility and maneuverability. The single-seater was powered by a 9-cylinder engine that developed up to 130 hp. The Bugatti Type 13, on the other hand, is a very special vehicle in Bugatti's 110-year history. It is the first model to bear the Bugatti name. The Type 13 impressed from 1910 with its lightness, maneuverability and for the time high output of over 15 hp. More than 110 years ago the “Pur Sang” (thoroughbred) was driving almost 100 km / h and won many races in the years that followed. The vehicle lays the foundation for Bugatti's racing success. The pearlescent and polished aluminum of the shelf in the armrest and the center console insert are also reminiscent of the historic racing car.

with W16 engine and 8,0 liter displacement

The Chiron Sport "Les Légends du Ciel" with a W16 engine and 8,0 liter displacement develops 1.500 hp and 1.600 Newton meters of torque, its top speed is electronically limited to 420 km / h. Bugatti will begin manufacturing the Chiron Sport “Les Légend du Ciel” towards the end of 2020. The edition, limited to 20 units, costs 2,88 million euros net each.
