680 HP Chevrolet Nova SS compressor as a restomod!

Did you know that General Motors installed “no” V1963 engines in the 8 Chevrolet Nova? Let me tell you again that we only got downsizing in the last few years! Even the performance version as the Nova SS in 1963 “only” had a 194 cubic inch six-cylinder under the hood with a tired 120 hp. Even at that time he was underpowered and understandably met with little enthusiasm in the fan base. But this 1963 Nova by Jason Scudellari as a Restomod project is completely different. It was recently featured on Autotopia LA's YouTube channel and has very little to do with an original '63 Nova '. Because the mentioned 6-cylinder was thrown out and replaced by a huge and even modified LS15-B15 Crate engine replaced with 376 cubic inches and a ProCharger radial compressor.

6,1 liter small block with +750 hp

In combination with many other modifications such as a new camshaft, a modified intake or improved cooling, the 6,1-liter small block generates a hefty 680 hp “on the wheels”. In other words, the engine output is easily in the range of 750 hp, which is delivered directly to the rear wheels by means of a 4-speed manual transmission. This means that the Nova has more than five times the performance and has therefore also been adapted accordingly in the area of the chassis and the braking system. It has a state-of-the-art chassis with QA5 shock absorbers, stands on a Schwartz performance chassis and is braked by means of a fat Baer sports brake system. BiColor light alloy wheels with sticky Falken Azenis tires establish contact with the road.

the cabin has also been completely rebuilt

And of course the body has also been completely restored and rebuilt and then painted in the BiColor color. Unnecessary trims and decorative elements were removed in this step, and of course the cabin has also been completely redesigned. Here you can see a handmade BiColor leather interior with white stitching and a matt black lacquered and specially adapted roll cage is installed. Countless details like one Sports steering wheel with quick release, an LCD instrument cluster or a high-end sound system are just a few components that put the cabin back in the state of a new car. Incidentally, the SS was built by Scudellari for his wife Randi, who also has a deep passion for muscle cars. And like Jason, his wife drives the Nova with a lot of smoke in the wheel arches. PS. At the end of the post there are a few pictures of the conversion. (Photos: superchevy.com)
