Everyone should know that the Chevrolet C5 Corvette Z06 was a monster. Elegant, powerful, light and particularly torsion-resistant. And she was extremely popular in the tuning scene. And one of these modified Z06 vettes was recently tested at an airport in Merritt Island, Florida to see how fast it can go half a mile (804 meters). This C5 Z06 is a model year 2002 which left the factory with LS6-V8 engine and 405 HP and 542 NM torque. But now the Vette is heavily modified and the output is more than twice as much.

900 PS and 1.152 NM torque

The 6,2-liter V8 BiTurbo now produces 900 hp and has a maximum torque of errant 1.152 NM. A lot of prototype parts were installed and the team from Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds (JBPG) was responsible. And they wanted to determine the top speed of the C5 Z06 over a distance of half a mile. While the discipline was somewhat idle at 60 miles per hour (approx. 97 km / h), it continued brilliantly afterwards. The Z18 reached the end of the 06 meters in just 804 seconds and had a top speed of 276 km / h (172,367 miles per hour) on the speedometer!

About Thomas Wachsmuth

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
