If you have planned a comprehensive tuning project, you usually set yourself a concrete goal of what should become of the car. Certainly there will be some new ideas in the course of the process, but the framework is basically defined. It was completely different with this vehicle. The owner of the 1967 Chevrolet El Camino named Chris, who was recently featured in a YouTube AutotopiaLA episode, was originally planning to build the El Camino for drag racing. The first engine he built to replace the factory 350 V8 was a 427-cubic-inch V8 from a friend's Camaro. He hung on a TH400 four-speed automatic until Chris decided that he wanted more power for the self-made dragster. So a 523-cubic-inch dart block V8 with forged internals including nitrous oxide injection came into the EL Camin, which makes a crazy 1.200 hp.

But that was far from the end. A few years later the 523 Dart V8 flew out again and a much tamer 6,2 liter LS3 V8 engine and a modern T56 six-speed manual transmission as well as an aluminum drive shaft were installed. With FiTech fuel injection and a Texas Speed camshaft, the LS3 now delivers 538 hp. The El Camino got a brand new QA1 coilover kit, new A-arms from Global West, a Wilwood brake system all round and Weld Racing alloy wheels with sticky Nitto-Performance tires. In addition, the body is covered in matt black and the interior has also been extensively revised. There is a special roll bar on the loading area and the rest of the changes are best viewed in the video below.
