Concept car for fresh air fanatics: Changan Uni-T Speedster

Slowly but surely, more and more concept vehicles and studies of open-air SUV models are being presented, which, based on the example of the Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet, have an electrically operated soft top. Convertible models were still extremely popular at the beginning of the millennium, but they have gradually been swallowed up by the SUV wave, and currently lead a downright shadowy existence with new registrations. It is even more extreme on the Chinese market, as there is almost no demand for convertibles there and they have never been as popular as in Europe. Changan tries this antipathy of the Chinese towards convertibles with the Concept car Uni-T Speedster (Changan calls it "Roadster") to counteract this, which is extremely pleasing and sporty, and tries to combine the advantages of a convertible with those of a compact SUV.

This project is probably the only four-seater and family-friendly Speedster the world, and thus Changan has created a new type of vehicle. Black leather and extremely spacious seats ensure optimal comfort. The cockpit is largely taken from the Uni-T series model and also looks very sporty.

1,5-liter turbo gasoline engine provides propulsion.

According to our information, the Uni-T Speedster is powered by the same engine as the closed production model. Thus a 1,5-liter turbo gasoline engine with 180 hp and 300 Newton meters maximum torque. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about the performance, nor do we know how much the Speedster is heavier than its closed brother. But 180 PS sounds interesting to let the wind blow around your nose when the weather is nice.

Now a new type of vehicle is coming from China! A four-seater speedster is probably unique to date, and if Changan continues like this, they could soon be taken seriously in Europe. We pay respect to the car manufacturer. While the convertible seemed to have passed its peak in the new millennium and was displaced by the SUV wave, Changan is bringing the Changan Uni T Cabriolet – also known as the Uni-T Speedster or simply “Roadster” – a breath of fresh air into the convertible scene. Especially in China, where that Convertible Changan represents a novelty, the concept car aims to combine the advantages of the convertible with a compact SUV.

The wide body, the striking body kit and the large grill of the Changan Unit T convertible suggest a sporty presence. Unique design elements, such as the two rear humps, typical of Speedsters, as well as additional air inlets give it an aggressive look. The eventual series production of the Uni T convertible Model could generate positive headlines. Overall, Changan presents with the Cabriolet Changan an exciting innovation that proves that innovative vehicle concepts can also come from China.
