If the extremely strange case arises that you can't decide between a classic Dodge Charger and a current Challenger, or you simply don't have the space or money for both vehicles, then this car is in the noble class Electric Blue Pearl maybe just right. Because this vehicle is a current Dodge Challenger Hellcat with carbon body, which, however, was given the look of the classic from the sixties. But first things first. What exactly was done and who did it? The vehicle is called the project "C68 carbon' and it is the work of eXoMod Concepts.
'68 Charger & '22 Challenger mix
The base is a 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which sells itself as a 1968 Dodge Charger because it is radical modified became. In other words, the one-off still enjoys the state-of-the-art and contemporary equipment of the current Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, remains true to the chassis, the high level of reliability and the familiar handling, but pairs this with the appearance of the classic.
Of course, the result is not a 1-to-1 conversion as an absolutely detailed replica, but the C68 Carbon might not want to be that at all. The fact is: for us and certainly for many others too, this is an aesthetically successful conversion. But how did eXoMod even manage to carry out the transformation? To do this, the outer sheet metal was removed from the 2022 Challenger and replaced with a complete one Carbon fiber exoskeleton transferred. This is difficult to explain and also an extremely complex undertaking. But it succeeded! And that's all that counts.
The Challenger's wheelbase is 116 inches (2.946 mm), almost identical to that of a '68 Charger. But there are also other dimensions and shapes, such as the angle of inclination of the windshield, the overhangs and the body that is 4 inches (102 mm) wider. You also rely on many classic ones styling elements from the '68 Charger, like the reset one radiator grill or the optically indented ones rear window.
many classic elements cause a stir
- Pictures show different wheelsets
- a C68 conversion starts at 325.000 US dollars
- a Scat Pack Challenger conversion starts at $395.000
- a Platinum Package conversion is even more expensive
More details like the hidden ones headlights, the indentations in the doors or the four rounds tail lights complete the details. Those who are not really familiar with both vehicles will believe that it is an original from the sixties. At least until you look into the cabin. There is apart from a few other stitching and lots of white leather all typical 2022 Redeye. And that goes for this too Monsters under the hood with 807 hp (818 hp), due to the carbon body but with 181 kg fewer curb weight has to contend with.
That's how it goes 3,6 seconds to country road speed and, if desired, to over 300 km/h. The vehicle will soon be on display at the upcoming SEMA auto show and will later be auctioned off at Mecum in Las Vegas.
