In these times, at least in the USA, nothing seems over Restomod to go in the tuning scene. Wherever you look, various Restomod projects appear every day on the Internet, which turn every tuning and classic car enthusiast's head. It doesn't matter whether it's pickups, muscle cars or limousines, there is something for every taste. The newly built classics often have powerful V8 petrol engines that come from current models from American manufacturers and were painstakingly installed by hand in the newly built car. Just like the 1956 Chevrolet Nomad, which is on sale for a staggering 79.900 US dollars, and which we are now introducing to you in more detail.

Shooting brake with cult status

One of the most interesting models from the traditional Chevrolet brand is the Nomad, which first saw the light of day in 1955 and was one of the most luxurious models to wear the Chevrolet emblem at the time. Due to its spectacular design, the two-door station wagon is still one of the most popular models when it comes to collecting or exhibiting classic US cars. As part of the so-called Tri-Five family, which includes various models that were produced between 1955 and 1957, including the legendary Chevy Bel Air heard, the first-generation Nomad has become an absolute cult car today. As a result, there are also countless reinterpretations and restomods of the type that do their rounds in the United States and are lovingly cared for by their owners. Almost nothing was changed on the exterior of the model we presented, except for the paintwork, which now shines in Tuxedo black with crocus yellow side panels, and the chrome rims, which were also not part of the standard scope of the 1956 model. But you can't tell by looking at the extensively restored and well-cared for classic what power is under its hood, and that makes it almost a classic Sleeper.

Interior renovated with modern features

The interior was also kept in the same color combination to match the exterior paintwork, so everything is perfectly coordinated. The instruments and all the controls have been kept classic, and there are no high-tech gadgets installed, as you know from some restomods. The modern add-ons include, among other things, an automatic air conditioning that ensures that you don't break a sweat even in midsummer.

4,6-liter six-cylinder replaced by 5,7-liter V8

As usual with Restomods, this was also called a Engine swap carried out, whereby the old 283 cu. in. engine with six cylinders was replaced by a 5,7 liter V8 naturally aspirated gasoline engine. The gearbox is also no longer original, and the automatic now has four speeds. In addition, a double-pipe exhaust was installed at the rear, through which the exhaust gases can escape with a sonorous babble. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about the driving performance, power and consumption, but the Nomad will certainly not lack horsepower and certainly not lack of torque, which should also make the driving performance respectable, and the consumption quite high.

Our conclusion on the 1956 Chevy Nomad:

$ 79.900 is a hefty sum for a Restomod, but the one-off show car is worth its price in our eyes. For all US car fans who have always dreamed of a Chevy Nomad, this vehicle is probably the absolute ultimate. Of course we also have a picture gallery for you at the end of the post.
