You will surely be a little surprised at first when you read the headline. Because the vehicle we are introducing to you is not a Chevrolet Impala, but one Opal. The model, which has certain similarities with the Opel Rekord and is also based on the platform, was specially built for the South American market and rolled off the assembly line in Brazil for several generations from 1969 to 1992. At that time it was one of the most expensive and most powerful vehicles available on the South American continent, and the Opala owes this to the powerful GM engines, including a 4,1-liter in-line six-cylinder, which is also featured in the example we are introducing Performed service.

Classic restomod with modifications

The Brazilian tuner Felipe Ricardo, bought the car years ago with some modifications, but the changes were not far-reaching enough that he decided to create his very special Restomod Opala. The most important changes are under the hood, but handwork has also been done on the body, and for example Lowering springs built in, which let the classic lie deeper and richer on the road.

The Rims are also not series, but come from a 1992 Chevrolet Opala "Diplomata", the top version of the series at the time, which was intended for very special customers. In our opinion, the 15-inch alloy wheels with a traditional look give the classic Chevy a very special touch. The light blue Painting is standard and reflects the zeitgeist of the 1970s. Even the slim figure with the almost non-existent A-pillars is no longer to be found in automotive engineering today, but the Coke-Bottle lines on the side, which are not as pronounced on the Opala as, for example, on the Opel GT, can also be found today still with the Camaro.

The round rear lights testify to the classic American design, which the Opala skilfully mixes with Opel style elements of past decades. We are sure that such a Chevrolet Opala would also do well in this country at an oldies meeting, and it would certainly get a lot of attention, because in our opinion the timeless coupé line knows how to age gracefully.

The interior is sporty.

Misc Additional instruments and racing bucket seats with harness belts from San Marino Race provide that racing feeling in the otherwise elegant and civil two-door car. The extremely long gearshift lever, which is within easy reach, looks like it isn't standard, but we don't have any further information on that.

A 4,1-liter in-line six-cylinder engine provides propulsion

It's hard to believe at first, but the four-liter R6 petrol engine went from an injection engine to a carburettor rebuilt to achieve more performance. The standard Single point injection was against one 40 carburetor from Solex replaced, and the original pistons were also replaced forged specimens replaced. the crankshaft is also new, and the performance should have increased significantly compared to the production model, even if we do not have precise information on performance and torque.
