On the design of Chrysler PT Cruiser opinions are still divided even more than 20 years after the presentation. You either love him or you hate him, but there is hardly any opinion in between. And in the tuning scene, the retro vehicle does not play a significant role. But today we want to give you a special copy one PT Cruisers present that has been transformed into a custom pickup truck. The vehicle is currently available for immediate purchase on eBay. The buyer is asking $44.500. However, the PT Cruiser has only run 8.600 miles (approx. 13.840 km).
Two-tone paintwork in the Maybach style!
Not only the pickup conversion, which conjures up a two-door lifestyle truck from the once four-door minivan, but also the two-tone paintwork in the Maybach style catches the eye. The cream colored lower part of the car and the orange colored upper part harmonize reasonably well with each other. They add a certain something to the retro vice Hot Rod Charm. Incidentally, the US paint shop is responsible for the unusual paintwork House of Color responsible. Furthermore, the PT Cruiser was equipped with a chrome grille, new exhaust pipes and indicated mud flaps. It is apparently a technically incomplete project, since safety features such as ABS, traction control and airbags are not working. Alternatively, one can of course also assume that the car has already been a total loss and was only brought back to life by the seller.
There is only room for two people inside!
In favor of a lush loading area, the back seat had to give way, so that it is now a pure two-seater. Unfortunately, we can't take a closer look at the interior, so we don't know if additional parts of the cockpit were modified.
Several engine variants for the PT Cruiser to choose from!
Unfortunately, we also don't know what heart is under the bow of the extraordinary lifestyle truck. A naturally aspirated 2-litre, naturally aspirated 2,4-litre or turbocharged 2,4-litre petrol engine was available in the US for the PT Cruiser. The performance range was from 141 to 224 hp. You could choose manual or automatic transmission, and there was front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Our conclusion:
- Is this the coolest PT Cruiser ever? Nearly! Such a lifestyle truck based on the PT Cruiser would also have been a cash cow for Chrysler, which would certainly have increased the success of the underestimated wallflower.
