For several years, the so-called restomodding of all classic cars very trendy. This not only gives the sought-after classic a contemporary driving style, but other amenities such as air conditioning, a modern engine or a new interior are almost always installed. And from the company Retro style from Concord in North Carolina (USA) such a restomod project is now emerging C2 Corvette base. Retro Designs specializes in producing restomod vehicles with the classic look of vintage cars, but on the technical basis of modern vehicles. And this C2 Sting Ray as an open roadster (convertible version) shows what is possible. Specifically, it is a vehicle from the year 1965. The Chassis is based on the substructure included Suspension a Corvette C7. The result ensures that the aged two-seater is a modern one Independent suspension at the stern and Coilover struts got donated all around. And of course there was also a new powertrain. And in the form of a befitting one 6,2 liter LS3-V8who on about 440 PS comes and to one Three inch custom exhaust system made of stainless steel. The power from the V8 under the long hood also flows through Six-speed manual to the rear wheels. But not only the technology has changed compared to the series. There were also some modern adjustments in terms of appearance. The most striking feature are the large ones, which in our opinion take a little getting used to Y spoke rims. The wheel set comes from the house Bavaria and goes by the name of Spartan. The rounds are equipped with Nitto Motivo tires. And of course it is Cabin a fair bit removed from the series. That dashboard was, among other things, completely leathered and the Seats re-upholstered with stronger contouring.
