"CUPRA SimRacing Series" goes into the third round!

CUPRA continues to rely on e-sports: With the "CUPRA SimRacing Series", the brand, in cooperation with RaceRoom, the officially licensed racing simulator of the WTCR, transports real racetrack flair into the digital world. Motorsport enthusiasts all over the world can put their driving skills to the test here. A summary of the racing highlights will be available on the official YouTube channel and the CUPRA website. “CUPRA has its roots in racing and, with its challenger attitude, matches e-sports like SimRacing perfectly. With our own racing series, we already firmly established ourselves in the SimRacing scene last year and are now entering the third season, ”says Giuseppe Fiordispina, Head of Marketing at SEAT Germany.

Motorsport enthusiasts move the digital version of the 250 kW (340 PS) strong and up to 265 km / h fast CUPRA Leon Competición, with which CUPRA also participates in the real TCR and WTCR, initially via the virtual version of the Hockenheimring. This year's racing calendar includes eight more European tracks before the season finale takes place on November 11 in Macau. Participation is free, the ten best SimRacers will split a total of 10.000 euros in prize money among themselves at the end of the season.

Live broadcasts of all races on the network

As in the previous year, the racing series will be held on the Raceroom.com platform. The organizational process is the same for all ten dates: In the Time Attack, a phase lasting several days before the actual race, the participants initially collect points alone on the track with fast laps. The 144 best then qualify for the multiplayer race, which is held in six parallel competitions with 24 vehicles each. The event with the fastest 24 Time Attack drivers will be broadcast live on Raceroom.de and commented on. There are two 25-minute races per route. The only exception is the long-distance race on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring on June 17th: There is only one long-distance race over 60 minutes with a mandatory pit stop.

Depending on the class and placement, points are awarded for the overall classification in each individual race. Whoever is at the top at the end of the season will receive the largest share of the total of EUR 2.500 prize money at EUR 10.000.

Motorsport close to reality

Thanks to the realistic driving physics of the digital vehicles as well as detailed images of the racetracks and a strict set of rules including several startups along the route, the "CUPRA SimRacing Series" 2021 is a demanding event that demands a lot from the participants both mentally and physically. It offers professional as well as amateur racers the great opportunity to prove their talent under these very real conditions and to enjoy the ride in the CUPRA Leon Competición.
