As was the case with the latest BMW releases, the presentation of the new 1 Series F40 (Successor to the F20) the discussions big. Similar in size to the clearly grown kidneys! Front-wheel drive, transversely installed engines, no three-door and no six-cylinder, actuator-close wheel slip limitation (ARB) and optionally a 7-speed Streptronic from Getrag. But the biggest discussion in any case is the front-wheel drive concept on the UKL2 platform. Not the kidneys! Rarely has a generation change of a BMW been as extensive as that of the F40. But apparently the whole effort was worth it, because the front-wheel drive seems to be in no way inferior to its predecessor in terms of agility and sportiness. And it also looks good after a short period of familiarization. The rising window line, the addressed large kidneys and the sporty rear are quite impressive.
«DÄHLer CDC1» rims in 20 inches
However, the new one in series trim somehow also looks wedge-shaped and higher than its predecessor. You could almost think here is the unpopular 2-seater Active Tourer as a facelift. But the team of Dähler Design & Technik GmbH has a solution ready. They have made the in-house «DÄHLer CDC1» rim suitable for the 1 series and also donated a subtle lowering to the vehicle in the pictures. The ten long, concave and inward-keyed spokes in the monoblock design are a perfect match for the Baby BMW and the rim is even available in different colors as an aluminum and forged rim. In addition, the mentioned filigree lowering of the body and the F40 is at least as sporty as the popular predecessor.
