For years the iconic one has been on the DeLorean website DeLorean DMC-12 as model year 2017 can be pre-ordered. After 34 years, the classic gullwing from the film series “Back to the Future” should actually hit the streets again. The ultimate fans seem to have to wait a little longer. Anyone who was one of the first to pre-order a DeLorean online without obligation in autumn 2016 has now been waiting an impressive 4 years for delivery, or at least a binding confirmation of the order. Since then, DMC has been waiting for new information. And when it actually starts, it could take an eternity before the ordered vehicle is actually delivered. Because according to the manufacturer only ON DeLorean DMC-12 (2017) can be manufactured per month at a cost of about $ 100.000. That kind of reminds us of pre-orders for a Trabant in GDR times. If this was done on time for the birth of the child, then, with a lot of luck, they gave the long-awaited Trabbi until their 18th birthday.

2JZ instead of flux compensator

And the Americans even want to give preference to people who already have a DeLorean when awarding the cars. That's why you ask for this directly on the website including the chassis number. And one more bad news. The DeLorean DMC-12 has a new edition no Flux compensator included. But the 132 hp V6 at the time will probably be replaced by a modern V6 or V8 with 300 to 400 hp. That’s something. So you can be curious! And until that happens, we've let off steam a bit virtually and completed our own interpretation as the 2020 model year. Our vehicle has also received many modern components and a very special engine. We have chosen for that Toyota Supra MK4 2JZ GTE engine with 6 cylinders and turbocharger. As a performance-enhanced variant with a whopping 1.150 hp, there shouldn't be any questions about the necessary 88 miles per hour (approx. 142 km / h) to make the leap into the past like Marty McFly in 1985.

In addition, we gave the vehicle a powerful widebody kit including new aprons with spoiler and diffuser. The bonnet is completely see-through and is small on the right and left wind splits optically garnished. Of course, our very special DMC-12 is significantly lower and got chic aluminum with black front and rear wheels turbofans. With many small details such as the black main headlights with LED daytime running lights in series optics, the centrally mounted sports exhaust system with double tailpipes, the deep black windows all around, the large intercooler in the front apron or the small tuning details on the engine, we essentially round off the changes. Maybe someone will dare to rebuild this vehicle and even finish it earlier than the boys and girls of DeLorean Motor Company.
