+500 PS DeLorean DMC-12 Restomod with Kia power!

The DMC DeLorean was visually one of the sportiest vehicles from America and was created by the man who turned down the project of a mid-engine Corvette more than a decade earlier. We're talking about John DeLorean. However, the DeLorean didn't have a decent drive. The DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) relied exclusively on one developed by Peugeot, Renault and Volvo V6 in the rearwho with an output of 132 PS and only 220 Nm torque Was weak-chested even for the circumstances at the time. You could either couple it to one 5-speed manual transmission or optionally to a Automatic. Regardless of what you decided to do, the engine never managed to get the 1,3 tonnes up to speed in under 11 seconds. And more than 198 km / h was not possible. Visually, however, the only model from DMC promised much more.

Anyone who did not know the key technical data at the time suspected at least a 300 PS V6 or no thick V8 under the sheet metal. Reason enough for the owner of this copy to throw out the 2,8 liter PRV six-cylinder (V-engine) and the Renault gearbox and install something much better.

And if you are wondering where you know the vehicle from, we already reported about it in May of this year. The one-off with the VIN SCEDT26T0BD003701 was not yet finished. But that is exactly the case now. And the company is behind the project Otsuka Maxwell design (OMD for short) from San Diego. They had the plan to build the fastest DeLorean ever. But it wasn't that easy. Due to the brushed stainless steel body, the DMC is a very heavy car and in combination with a larger one Engine, transmission etc. this circumstance did not necessarily improve.

Coilovers and Ferrari brakes

But after the OEM suspension has been used coilover KW variant 2 was replaced and also still Ferrari 348 Challenge disc brakes behind the 15 inch turbine-style rims were used, the DeLorean was suddenly much better to conduct. That Kia Stinger engine behind the booth is a BiTurbo V6, and that was modified to the maximum. About two Garret T25 turbocharger, DTAFast ECU, greater Intercooler.3 inches (about 8 cm) Exhaust System and with a specially made one Aluminum air inlet. The aforementioned Renault gearbox of the DeLorean would of course have the one that is now available 530 Nm never withstood and was therefore means of Porsche 911 (996.2) six-speed transaxle manual transmission replaced. And also a locking differential came in addition. However, the vehicle still has rear-wheel drive and the result was on a Dynotest 487 PS on the bikeWhat corresponds to over 500 HP engine power. So much the technical effort under the sheet metal, that's how discreet they are optical changes inside and outside.

hardly any changes in the cabin

Dhe interior has remained almost as standard and only the ones that are now covered with leather OEM Recaro sports bucket seats (Recaro Specialist M) and the restored one dashboard, the Door panels and the Center console make the difference. Even the old Alpine cassette radio from back then is still installed. Just that Boost Gauge in front of the gear lever is an exception. And finally ... In our opinion, a very successful conversion, which is currently even being auctioned on Bring-a-Trailer (Link to the auction at the end of the post at the photo reference). And 5 days before the auction ends, the vehicle is already at $ 100.000. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
