The strongest for last: Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170

It took a little longer, but now it's here! The last "Last Call“ Dodge's vehicle is the Challenger SRT Demon 170 with breathtaking specifications. Fueled with E85 fuel the supercharged 6,2-liter V8 performs insanely 1.025 PS at 6.500 rpm and a torque of crazy 1.281 NM at 4.200 rpm. If it is fueled with E10, then it is still 900 PS & 1.098 NM. With full power, it goes to 96 km/h in just 1,66 seconds (!!!) and he completes the quarter mile in NHRA-certified 8,91 seconds and at 243,28 km/h. However, this requires a specially prepared race track. The name 170 actually refers to two things. Number 1: because E85 ethanol is 170 percent. Number 2: because of the Dodge Direct Connection Hellephant C170 crate engine. This one is related to the engine of the SRT Demon 170!

In order to achieve the impressive performance figures, Dodge had to rework almost the entire powertrain. Only the camshaft from the engine remained. The displacement of the supercharger increases to 3,0 liters and the throttle valve system is now 105 millimeters in size. The boost pressure is 21,3 psi (1,469 bar) and the Demon 170 even comes with intelligent engine management. It can detect the percentage of ethanol in gasoline and adjust fuel delivery and ignition timing accordingly.

There's even a gauge on the dash that shows the ethanol content indicates. The full power of 1.025 hp is available when the share is over 65 percent. Incidentally, the transmission is still the eight-speed automatic, but with an improved TransBrake 2.0. The driver can press the accelerator pedal and take off using the paddle shifter. Even the torque can be adjusted in tenths of a second increments.

the torque can be adjusted!

And with Dodge Direct Connection accessories, there's the option to add track-specific accessories like a seat belt hanger, carbon rear seat cover and even a Bremsfallschirm to order. By the way, Dodge equips the rear axle with 315/50R17 Mickey Thompson ET Street R racing tires and in front there are 245/55R18 rubbers. There is also an optional wheel and tire package for off-track use. And if you want, you can even equip the Challenger with another optional wheel set made of forged aluminum and carbon, which saves a lot of weight. When it comes to the chassis, Dodge relies on adaptive Bilstein dampers and a special drag mode changes the setup on the front and rear axles. Compared to the Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody, the 170 also has softer springs and stabilizers.

Devilish looks on the 170

Visually, little has changed at the front, with the 170 surprisingly not having any fender flares has. That saves weight! There is a different badge and the Demon 170 is available in 14 paint finishes, with heritage colors B5 Blue, Plum Crazy purple and Sublime green also present. Inside there is only the driver's seat on request and even the rear seat can be canceled. Even the trunk carpet, that soundproofing and the sound system can be canceled. Optional details such as black Alcantara and Laguna leather are also available, as are heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel and an 18-speaker sound system. Even a sunroof is an option.

There should only be 3.300 vehicles!

The Demon 170 is available for $96.666 plus fees and will only be built 3.300 times. 3.000 vehicles will remain in the United States and 300 will go to Canada. However, the final number depends more on the production capacity of the Dodge plant, as Dodge will only build the 170 from July to December 31, 2023. Orders can be placed from March 27, 2023.
