Did you know that the new one Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye got its bonnet with the two air vents from the Dart Swinger and the Demon tribute to the Dodge muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s? And one of those rare specimens is this 1971 Dodge Dart Demon as Restomod with a fat 7,2-liter V8 and the hood. The then extremely potent variant of the dart, also known as "Demon", was way ahead of its time and is now a sought-after classic. And this particular Dart Demon is a 1971 model and recently underwent a major restoration. It was completed in 2016 and now the unique item is available for sale on Mecum Auctions.

440 cubic inches CI V8

In the course of the restoration, the standard V8 flew out and a 440 cubic inch CI V8 (7,2 liter displacement) was installed, including an Edelbrock cylinder head made of aluminum, a quadruple carburetor, a Performer RPM intake system and a BeCool cooler. The more powerful engine was coupled to a TorqueFlite automatic transmission and this continues to send the power exclusively to the rear wheels. The contact to the road is made by Kumho Ecsta XS tires (315 / 35ZR17 and 225 / 45ZR17) on chrome-plated 17 inch American Racing Torque Thrust rims that stand out particularly well in combination with the black paint and chrome-plated aprons of the Dodge Dart. And in the course of the renovation, the battery was moved to the trunk, where the new ATL safety tank is also housed.

Sports brake system with disc brakes all around

With countless other improvements, such as a modern sports brake system with disc brakes all around, a double brake booster, a Dana 60 rear or a state-of-the-art coilover suspension including new stabilizers at the front, the technology has been further optimized, particularly with regard to driving behavior. The cabin has also been extensively restored and equipped, for example, with a sports steering wheel, new Viper GTS bucket leather seats, a modern radio and a start-stop button.
