852 hp Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Hellcat as a convertible

More Challenger like with that SRT Demon Hellcat it does not work! This vehicle is probably one of the last obstacles to the ongoing downsizing trend. Brutal 852 hp and 1044 Newton meters from a compressor V8 virtually eliminate the inertia of the masses. And the street-legal quarter mile swallows conventional petrol and has neither hybrid frills nor dozens of turbos under the domed hood. A sprint from 2,3 seconds to 60 mph (96,56 km / h) are Bugatti levels and there are also up to 1,8 g acceleration forces. The soundscape of the 6,2-liter supercharger V8, at a maximum of 6500 rpm, in combination with the redesigned intake area, is crazy from the factory and is only somewhat dampened by the thin sheet metal roof with the spartan roof lining. And whoever has always seen this as the ultimate problem of the top model of the Challenger series, this purple beast may be the perfect alternative.

Number 2762 of 3300

A Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram dealer in Cape Coral (USA) sells a one-off Dodge Demon "Convertible Tag". The vehicle is number 2762 of a total of only 3300 vehicles built in 2018. The conversion was carried out by the company "Droptop Customs", which specializes in precisely such conversions. And they do it almost every day. The tuner's repertoire shows a lot more vehicles and also one Scat pack variant and countless R / T are included. Incidentally, the company became known at the latest with the two Dodge Challenger convertibles from the former American basketball player, actor and rapper Shaquille O'Neal, But the purple demon seems unique so far. No wonder with such a strictly limited edition. However, the conversion not only requires the roof to be removed, but also a complete reinforcement of the body. After all, the combination of over 850 hp with the lack of stability of the tin cap is a challenge.

the new reinforcements are invisible

But thanks to reinforced longitudinal members, a reinforcement in the trunk, more stable damper bridges and modified doors, the chassis holds together even without a roof. And of course it is a full Cabriolet. The SRT was given a three-layer roof with a heated glass rear window that can typically be opened or closed electrically at the push of a button. Only the final locking must be carried out by hand on the A-pillar on the right and left. Nevertheless, the entire process takes barely 30 seconds and the whole thing is possible even when driving slowly. It is not known whether the Demon can still complete the quarter mile in under 10 seconds. We also do not know whether the catapult start with the special front wheels (at the start, the front wheels are raised by up to 90 cm) is still possible or recommended.
