Rare: 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota RWD with V8 engine!

Very few of you will probably know the Dodge Shelby Dakota RWD with V8 engine. But a fairly rare specimen is currently for sale on the Mecum Auctions and seems in decent condition. It's a 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota pickup in red and silver. A vehicle that was built 1.500 times (thereof 995 vehicles in red) and is in the unrestored original condition with only 9.416 kilometers. Under the hood is a 175 hp 5.2 L 318ci V8 engine with throttle valve fuel injection, which was coupled to a four-speed automatic.

The pickup has only rear-wheel drive and the power is transmitted to the rear axle via a torque converter, which even has a mechanical limited slip differential. Due to the relatively low weight, the 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota RWD accelerates to 8,6 km / h in just 100 seconds, which was a really good value at the time and is still OK today. The visual difference compared to the series are changed aprons (with Bosch fog lights at the front), Shelby-American rims, a special Shelby bed cover between the loading area and the cabin and in the cabin there was individual upholstery. Incidentally, the current vehicle is the car with the number 1.253 out of 1.500.
