Jeep & Jeep Performance Parts by Mopar for the 56th Easter Jeep Safari!

Electrified power, legendary 4×4 capabilities and impressive performance are the focus of this year's Easter Jeep® Safari, the home of Jeep. The Jeep brand and team at Jeep Performance Parts by Mopar (JPP) are showing their best with an extraordinary lineup of custom built 4×4 and 4xe concept vehicles to conquer the iconic Red Rock compound in Moab, Utah. Thousands of off-road enthusiasts and Jeep brand fans from around the world will descend on Moab April 9-17 to participate in the week-long annual tradition of trail rides and technical off-road driving.

the 56th Easter Jeep Safari

  • Five impressive concept vehicles from the Jeep brand® and the Jeep Performance Parts by Mopar (JPP) team at the Easter Jeep Safari April 9-17 in Moab, Utah
  • Two new Jeep concept vehicles from JPP, as well as three that already debuted at the 2021 SEMA show, will also come to Moab to showcase the latest prototypes and production parts.
  • The Jeep brand's mission of Zero Emission Freedom is evident in electrified concepts like the new Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0.

“Easter Jeep Safari is the perfect opportunity for Jeep to push the boundaries of four-wheel drive vehicle development and, most importantly, engage with our customers,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and general manager, Jeep Brand, North America. “Moab is a rite of passage for many Jeep owners, and owning a Jeep means truly understanding that lifestyle – that's what defines the Jeep brand. Whether it's a Jeep concept vehicle or the latest Jeep production model, our customers have the opportunity to experience our passionate projects first-hand at this event. From a fully-fledged BEV off-roader to rugged and powerful off-roaders, each concept vehicle reflects what our customers want and gives a taste of where the future of the Jeep brand and off-road driving can be.”

This year, ten distinctive concept vehicles from Jeep and JPP feature a range of advanced powertrains. The remarkable lineup highlights the triumphant return of the Jeep Wrangler Magneto, the Jeep brand's first battery electric concept vehicle (BEV). The even more powerful and capable Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 and four other Jeep 4xe concept vehicles demonstrate the brand's commitment to freedom with zero local emissions. In addition, each concept vehicle features JPP's latest production and prototype parts, engineered to exacting specifications for legendary 4×4 capabilities. Easter Jeep Safari 2022 concept vehicles include:

Jeep® Wrangler Magneto 2.0

A year ago, the Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept vehicle showed that a battery-electric powertrain would stay true to the Wrangler's heritage of on-road and off-road capability. This is how Jeep is committed to freedom with zero local emissions. Magneto 2.0 powertrain fundamentals include:

  • Custom designed axial flow electric motor, with a maximum speed of 5.250 rpm
  • Six-speed manual
  • Four lithium-ion battery packs located in the chassis for optimal weight distribution, with a total output of 70 kilowatt hours, operating an 800 volt system.
  • An inverter derived from racing cars converts direct current into alternating current for the high-tech motor.

Jeep & Jeep Performance Parts by Mopar for the 56th Easter Jeep Safari!

That's a great start, but the Magneto 2.0 team is aiming for the end of the performance spectrum: "buckle up and hold on with both hands". The peak current of the drive system has been more than doubled to 600 amps. This allows the Magneto 2.0 to instantly deliver up to 1.152 Newton meters of torque to the wheels, more than three times the torque of last year's concept car. And the 460 kW (625 hp) of power is also sufficient for the most serious climbing challenges. A new calibration of the electric powertrain maintains the peak current for up to ten seconds – you could think of it like electric nitrous oxide – and lets the Magneto 2.0 accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in two seconds.

Thanks to the 3,36 first gear ratio of the manual transmission, the Magneto 2.0 combined with the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon's Rock-Trac transfer case demonstrates unparalleled rock-crawling ability. The driver-selectable maximum regeneration function also contributes to this, which enables a real "one-pedal" driving experience. Getting all that torque to the ground requires a few hardware upgrades. First, the wheelbase of the two-door Wrangler body was lengthened by 30,5 centimeters. This creates additional space for drivetrain components and gives the Magneto 2.0 proportions similar to the 2004-06 Wrangler Unlimited "LJ". The whole thing is supplemented with a lift of 7,6 centimeters and 40-inch off-road tires on 20-inch wheels.

The rugged, all-terrain chassis includes a Dynatrac 60 Pro-Rock front axle and a massive Pro-Rock Dynatrac 80 rear axle with a 5,38 ratio and locks for both axles, plus a customized propshaft and off-road suspension. Custom lightweight bumpers and carbon fiber fender flares save weight, and these parts also improve the Magneto 2.0's departure angles on the trail. Surf Blue paintwork, a carbon fiber B-pillar, bikini top and carbon fiber hood give the Magneto 2.0 a powerful look. The bespoke bonnet features a blue-tinted, transparent window that reveals the engine below.

Jeep '41 Concept Vehicle

"Since 1941" is a prominent badge of honor on Jeep brand vehicles, a symbol of pride in the Jeep brand's long military heritage and legendary 4×4 capability for more than 80 years. During the Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep pays tribute to its automotive veterans and puts the spotlight on the Wrangler Willys. Each Jeep brand vehicle also tells the unique story that dates back to the Willys MB – the dependable 4×4 vehicle commissioned by the US Army over 80 years ago. The Willys MB could do almost anything, went almost anywhere and had a significant impact on the 4×4s built after it.

Jeep Rubicon 20th Anniversary Concept Vehicle

Iconic off-road destinations like the legendary Rubicon Trail in Northern California and the Red Rock Trails in upstate Moab, Utah are places where SUV legends are born. Twenty years ago, Jeep introduced the most off-road capable production vehicle of its time - the Wrangler Rubicon. Based on a 2003 model year 2002-door Wrangler, it was named after the legendary Rubicon Trail and took the industry by storm in the summer of 44. The iconic Rubicon model, inspired by the fans who dreamed of an all-terrain master and often tried to put one together themselves, was now available to order direct from the factory, backed by a factory warranty. The Rubicon featured options not found on any production Jeep at the time, including Dana 31 axles, front and rear locks, detachable front anti-roll bar, oversized XNUMX-inch off-road tires and flared fenders, all of which combined to bring off-road driving to a set a new level.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon remains a "proof of concept" where lessons learned in off-road meccas like Moab and feedback from fans and loyal Jeep customers continue to advance the brand and the entire Jeep lineup. The Rubicon 20th Anniversary concept vehicle, based on the fastest and most powerful Wrangler to date, the Rubicon 3921, based, continues the legacy created two decades ago by setting the benchmark for performance and capability with its 6.4 V8 engine, bespoke exterior and stunning interior.

Jeep Bob concept vehicle

The Jeep Bob concept vehicle's purpose is to blur the lines between two iconic SUVs, the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator. The long overhang of the pickup's bed is shortened to create the ultimate off-roader. Based on a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, the most striking features of this concept truck aren't what's there, but what's missing. All four doors and B-pillars have been removed for ultimate open-air freedom. A tarpaulin stretches almost to the rear of the tailor-made hardtop. The loading area of the Gladiator has been shortened by a good 30 centimeters and the steel bumpers improve the angle of departure.

Far-cut fenders create more room for maneuver for the 40-inch tires on 20-inch beadlock wheels, as does the 7,5-centimetre lift. Dynatrac Pro-Rock 60 axles supported by a mix of King Coil coil springs and bypass shocks also add to the off-road fun. The multi-layered exterior paintwork with a mix of gloss and matte finishes brings flair and texture. A ventilated carbon hood gives a striking look and provides the engine with enough breathing air. The Bob concept vehicle is powered by a 3.0 Turbocharged Eco-Diesel V6 engine and TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jeep D-Coder concept vehicle by JPP

Jeep Birdcage concept vehicle by JPP

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Birdcage is an extreme open-air 4×4 plug-in hybrid concept machine and showcases a host of bespoke accessory innovations from JPP and Mopar. Atop the first JPP two-inch lift kit with FOX shocks designed specifically for the plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe, the lively off-roader rides in Eagle Brown with Granite Crystal Metallic and Surf Blue accents. The front approach angle of the Wrangler 4xe Birdcage is improved by a custom-made skid plate between two steel brackets that are five centimeters thick. The construction also integrates and protects the Warn winch. The JPP five-spoke wheels measuring 17 x 8,5 inches are fitted with 3-inch BFGoodrich KM37 tires. Flat fenders at the front and rear for larger wheel/tire combinations provide the necessary additional space. The front fenders have integrated daytime running lamps that off-road enthusiasts can remove for extra freedom of wheel movement before extreme off-road situations.

Headlights under the floor of the vehicle on all four corners of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Birdcage promise a clear view of the ground, and should a larger boulder be overlooked, protective tubes under the doors prevent damage to the body. True off-road adventurers will appreciate that the windshield and wipers have been removed. An attached panel cleanly closes the dashboard to the bonnet. Three 14-inch JPP TYRI LED off-road headlights provide sleek, modern lighting at the top between the A-pillars. Inside, Tobacco Leaf and Cocoa Brown leather seats feature distinctive seat inserts and Surf Blue accent stitching, which is repeated on the instrument panel, steering wheel and shifter.

For driver and passenger, a JPP instrument accessory rail securely holds various mobile devices. Armorlite vinyl flooring throughout the cab provides a durable, easy-to-maintain surface with flush-out drain plugs. The Mopar team created the Add-A-Trunk concept for the liftgate, which provides security for accessories when the roof is off. Designed for all Jeep Wrangler models that can easily accommodate a refrigerator, Add-A-Trunk uses gas-assisted shock absorbers to raise the cargo floor out of the way when the hatch is open. Eight lashing eyes and five hooks for shopping bags provide additional functionality. Atop the roll cage is a 270-pound Rhino Rack cargo basket for additional storage.

SEMA 2021 concept vehicles

  • Three more Jeep concept vehicles from JPP, recently unveiled at the 2021 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show, will make their Moab debut. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe concept vehicle shows how passionate off-roaders can expand the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle with JPP factory-supported accessories. The Jeep Wrangler Overlook concept vehicle expands a four-door Wrangler Sahara into a three-row SUV with luxurious appointments, while the fearsome Kaiser Jeep M725 represents the transformation of a 1967 Kaiser Jeep M725 military ambulance into the ultimate off-road support machine and rolling mascot for JPP.

The Easter Jeep Safari

  • The nine-day Easter Jeep Safari of the 4×4 Club Moab's Red Rock 4-Wheelers consists mainly of one-day off-road tours, each starting from the city of Moab in the US state of Utah, whose Chamber of Commerce approved the Jeep Safari in 1967 as a one-day trip over the trails started. Over the years, the number of participants increased steadily and finally the Jeep Safari grew to today's nine-day event with its climax on Easter Saturday, the "Big Saturday".
