Electrified power and the electrifying performance of modern combustion engines combine in the middle of the stage at this year's Easter Jeep Safari with off-road capabilities and freedom of driving. Jeep® and Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) teams have teamed up again to hit the iconic tracks in Moab, Utah with a range of custom-made products. Enthusiasts from around the world gather in Moab from March 27 to April 4 for a long weekend of off-road driving on some of the most challenging and scenic routes.

Easter Jeep Safari 2021!

“The Moab Easter Jeep Safari has long been our test site for the latest 4 × 4 models and the show stage for our new Jeep concept vehicles, Jeep performance parts and ideas that appeal to all the tough off-road fans who visit this event every year - ours passionate customers, ”said Jim Morrison, vice president, Jeep North America. “This safari once again turns the headlights on everything that makes Jeep and its vehicles so unmistakably unique and undeniably capable - a variety of drive systems with superior power, performance, torque and, above all, fun. Moab's demanding routes are a real challenge for our Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator concept vehicles. "

This year there are seven Jeep and Jeep Performance Parts concept vehicles in Moab, the highlight is the first battery-electric (BEV) Jeep, another milestone on the brand's path to becoming the greenest SUV brand. In addition, the concept vehicles show prototype parts from Mopar's Jeep Performance Parts (JPP), developed with strict specifications and legendary 4 × 4 capability in mind.

"Moab is the perfect place to showcase our latest authentic, quality-tested Jeep Performance Parts from Mopar," said Mark Bosanac, North America Vice President, Mopar Service, Parts & Customer Care our factory-supported Jeep Performance Parts are designed and built to provide an exact fit and function for Jeep vehicles. "

The Easter Jeep Safari Concept Vehicles 2021:

Jeep® Magneto
The Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept vehicle is an unrestrictedly usable BEV, inconspicuous, nimble, quiet and an unmistakable climbing talent. Jeep engineers and designers have put a locally emission-free vehicle on four driven wheels that offers a new level of efficiency, environmental responsibility and performance on and off the road.

Based on a two-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the Jeep Magneto uses an axial flow electric motor1 with a nominal speed of 6000 revolutions per minute. The electric motor is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox and thus forms a unique manual-electric drive with a dry clutch like that of an internal combustion engine. In the case of fast gear changes, the electric motor uses regeneration when the clutch is actuated in order to avoid speed differences when engaging the clutch.

Comparable to the 3.6 V6 Pentastar petrol engine, the compact electric motor is set to 370 Newton meters of torque and 285 PS1. Calibrations set during the test drives help the magneto drive to map the driving experience of the V6, not only in terms of torque, but also in terms of power. During smooth driving, the difference between the V6 and Magneto's manual-electric drive is negligible, except for the almost noiseless operation. If more acceleration is required, the electric motor delivers the entire 370 Newton meters immediately and without the need to first increase the speed. Magneto accelerates from zero to 6,8 kilometers per hour in 96 seconds.

Four battery packs fuel the electric motor of the Jeep Magneto with a total of 70 kilowatt hours in an 800 volt system. The lithium-ion batteries are housed in different places in the Wrangler to ensure even weight distribution on the four wheels. One battery pack replaces the Wrangler's fuel tank, another is installed exactly opposite the tank, a third sits above the electric motor under the bonnet and the fourth where the rear exhaust silencer would otherwise be.

An inverter from racing converts direct current into alternating current for the high-tech electric motor. The batteries, an interface housing and the battery control module are sealed watertight to maintain the Wrangler's 76 cm fording depth. On-board systems such as infotainment or lighting supply a conventional twelve volt battery, while a second takes care of additional devices such as the cable winch. A DC / DC converter charges the two twelve volt batteries and allows electrical devices to be used for a long time, for example when camping or during unexpectedly long cable winch operations. Underrun protection sheets protect the high-voltage battery packs from possible bumps during tough off-road use. A ten kilowatt heater ensures comfort in the open Wrangler interior.

The Wrangler's popular Power Dome bonnet also adorns the Magneto, along with a dramatic light bar in the grille between the headlights and a redesigned tailgate. Leather seats in Custom Royal Blue and Black give the interior its electrifying atmosphere, together with a surf blue finish for the roll bars, door entrances, front passenger panel and loading area surround.

A JPP lift kit by five centimeters, 17-inch, metallic-black wheels with 35-inch mud-terrain tires, the roll cage, Mopar anti-impact protection tubes, steel bumpers with warning winch and underfloor protection made of steel complete the off-road capabilities of the Magneto .

Jeepster Beach
The Easter Jeep Safari would not be complete without an homage to historic Jeep models. This year's “Resto-Mod” is a look back at the second generation of Jeepsters.

Originally built for the growing customer interest in 4 × 4 recreational vehicles, the Jeepster Commando was the first compact four-wheel drive vehicle with automatic transmission and, unlike the CJ models of these days, with modern amenities such as doors, retractable side windows, heating and a roof as Standard equipment. The Jeepster Beach concept vehicle started in 1968 as the Jeepster Commando (C-101) and has now been combined with a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Jeepster Commando were built for fun in the sun, and this ultimate beach cruiser continues that tradition.

The original body received some modifications, but kept its original chrome accents, supplemented with a modern two-tone paintwork with Hazy IPA and Zinc Oxide. Even if the Jeepster Beach looks like a historic Jeepster, under the sheet metal it carries the performance of a modern Jeep Wrangler.

A high-tech four-cylinder engine with a displacement of two liters and turbocharging works under the bonnet, which in its calibration for the concept vehicle with 340 hp and 500 Newton meters1 achieves 25 percent more power and torque than its production version. The direct injection engine uses a twin-scroll, low inertia turbocharger mounted directly on the cylinder head and a dedicated cooling circuit for the turbocharger, intake air and throttle valve for exceptional responsiveness, performance and fuel efficiency. An eight-speed automatic transmission in conjunction with a 4: 1 reduction gearbox brings the power to 35-inch tires.

The interior of the Jeepster Beach shows individual seats in red leather. Instead of the rear seats, a chrome roll bar shines at the back.

Jeep Red Bare
Hard terrain calls for an equally hard drive train. The Jeep Red Bare Gladiator Rubicon concept vehicle builds on a long tradition of hard-working trucks, coupled with legendary Jeep 4 × 4 capabilities.

The Red Bare is powered by a charged three-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine with an output of 260 hp and a torque of 442 Newton meters1. The impressive torque is converted into propulsion by a TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission via Dana 44 high-performance differentials front and rear. The highest reduction of the two-stage transfer gear is 4,88, which results in the impressive overall reduction ratio of 91: 1.

The Gladiator Red Bare is painted fire red and has matt black graphics with gold accents. The Mojave bonnet with its cooling air inlet inserts and the bonnet graphics harmonize with the matt black radiator grille inserts. A black soft top and half doors for ultimate open-air freedom round off the robust appearance.

The interior consists of black Katzkin leather seats with red stitching and red flannel inserts. The dashboard with the same flannel cover gives the interior an unusual and rustic finish.

The Gladiator Red Bare rolls on a JPP lift kit by five centimeters and 17-inch, metallic black wheels with 37-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires. A roll bar is mounted on the loading area, as well as a rollable loading area cover and a carrier system. The door sills protect JPP Sand Slider Rock Rails, the front steel bumper takes a warning winch.

Jeep Orange Peelz
Based on a two-door Wrangler, the Jeep Orange Peelz concept vehicle is a tribute to the long-standing lifestyle of open air fun-and-freedom, which has made the Wrangler a global icon. Prototype half-doors from JPP, a hardtop without windows and a removable, one-piece Freedom Top sliding glass roof are the open-air characteristics of the Jeep Orange Peelz concept vehicle.

The proven JPP lift kit increases off-road performance by five centimeters with FOX shock absorbers. Among the “high-top” steel fender flares, 17-inch beadlock aluminum wheels from JPP in 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 off-road tires ensure a good distance between the differentials and the ground. The look is underlined by a matte black all-round graphic on the belt line and vintage Jeep emblems of the same color on the side behind the front fenders, which also emphasizes the striking orange Peelz exterior color.

The bonnet with black Mopar bonnet locks and Jeep Willys logo flank two off-road LED headlights from JPP, which are mounted on the base of the A-pillars and which each deliver 4.800 lumens of light output. The Mopar windscreen made of Corning Gorilla Glass provides additional protection against splinters and cracks while driving.

The JPP Rubicon steel bumper with a five centimeter thick protective bar is equipped with a JPP Rubicon warning cable winch with over 3,6 tons of pulling force. At the rear of the vehicle, the JPP spare wheel holder reinforcement enables a larger spare wheel to be fitted. In the interior, the checkered armrests and seat inlays as well as the paintwork of the dashboard match the orange Peelz exterior.

Jeep Farout
This go-anywhere-do-anything Jeep concept vehicle takes terrain exploration to the next level. As an addition to the 2019 Wayout concept vehicle, the Jeep Farout is a real overlanding vehicle that uses the payload of the Jeep Gladiator and the long-range 3.0 V6 EcoDiesel1 to take adventurers further off the beaten track.

The main feature of this fully functional concept vehicle is a neatly fitted, individually usable AT Overland Equipment Habitat ™ roof tent. The spacious, almost 4,9 meters long and 2,3 meters high leisure residence can be opened and closed in seconds. Once unpacked, it can comfortably accommodate up to four people.

Instead of the cold, functional look of traditional rural-service vehicles, the Farout offers a warm, inviting interior with wood paneling and soft lighting, a fully functional refrigerator and stove, as well as hanging storage spaces, built-in seats and a table. The interior of the Farout's passenger cabin celebrates outdoor fashion and style with dark smoky leather seats, orange stitching, and plaid flannel panels.

The Farout is painted in the new Earl body color, with chartreuse accents on the bonnet and the tow hook, among other things. Its robust stature is emphasized by a JPP five centimeter lift kit, 17-inch wheels in matt anthracite, 37-inch off-road tires, a modified Gladiator Rubicon steel bumper with a 5,4-ton winch from Warn, impact protection tubes and FOX ™ -Performance shock absorbers. The integrated roof rack system enables equipment to be transported.

392 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is on the way to series production, but began as a V8-equipped Wrangler Rubicon concept vehicle. A warrior at heart, this Jeep concept vehicle dared to be different with V8 performance, great interior and tailor-made exterior. The heart of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is its 6,4 liter V8 with 485 hp and 644 Nm of torque1. This naturally aspirated engine delivers almost 75 percent of the torque just above idling speed.

A Jeep Wrangler with a V8 has an inspiring and unmistakable sound. This is ensured by the active dual-mode exhaust system with valves that open automatically when the engine is heavily loaded in order to reduce the exhaust gas back pressure. The paint finish of the concept vehicle in Granite Crystal contrasts bronze accents such as lettering or tow hooks.

The proven JPP lift kit increases off-road performance by five centimeters. Under the flared fenders, 17-inch beadlock wheels in 37-inch mud-terrain tires ensure that there is plenty of space between the differentials and the ground. Mopar impact protection tubes and steel bumpers with warning cable winch as well as underfloor protection made of steel further improve the off-road capabilities.

Jeep Top Dog
Using JPP and custom-made accessories, the Mopar designers transformed a current Jeep Gladiator into a fun concept vehicle for serious mountain bikers. Painted in K-9 Blue, the Jeep Top Dog concept vehicle expands the transport capabilities of the Jeep pickup by adding a tailor-made loading area. The PCOR stowage system replaces the standard cargo hold.

On the passenger side of the loading system, drawers house tools and equipment for mountain bikers. There are also generous storage compartments, external light switches and power connections. On the driver's side, a battery-operated refrigerator and an electric hot dog grill ensure your physical well-being before the next challenging trail.

Above the passenger cabin, two Rhino support structures offer space for tools and equipment. Two external work lights are attached on both sides, as well as a set of traction mats that can be used to free a stuck vehicle. On top of the support structure, two bike stands provide safe transport of the mountain bikes to the trails. A ladder can be pulled out directly above the rear cable winch to access the mountain bike racks.

The proven JPP lift kit increases the off-road performance of the Jeep Top Dog by five centimeters with FOX shock absorbers. Under the raised “High Top” steel fenders, 17-inch beadlock-capable aluminum wheels in 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud Terrain tires ensure that there is plenty of space between the differentials and the ground.

The Jeep Top Dog concept vehicle is powered by the 3.6 Pentastar V6 with 285 hp and 352 Newton meters of torque1, paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.

The front JPP Rubicon bumper of the Jeep Top Dog holds a collision protection made of five centimeter thick pipe as well as a Rubicon winch with 3,6 tons of pulling force and 30,5 meters of synthetic Spydura rope. A second JPP warning winch is attached to the rear of the Jeep Gladiator Top Dog. A JPP snorkel draws fresh air into the engine when off-road conditions affect the performance of the normal air intakes. The black interior of the Top Dog benefits from bezels and decorative stitching in K-9 Blue.
