The boys of Topaz detailing have specialized in refurbishing vehicle paintwork and show with the following video a detailed treatment of the paintwork of a Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta what such an upgrade can do. And after all, one speaks here of "optimizing" a factory paintwork of a super sports car that costs over € 230.000 as a basis. The untrained eye will hardly be able to detect any defects, but the guys from Topaz Detailing seem to find enough to make improvements. Tiny bumps (known as the so-called orange peel) in the clearcoat, which are responsible for the distortion of light reflections, should have completely disappeared after the revision. However, "the problem" can only be resolved if the entire clearcoat is partially sanded off.

A necessary but painful process on an actually undamaged vehicle as we find. It starts with dry sanding, the next step includes wet sanding, many of which have to be mastered by hand on the Italian. After this work step has been completed, the grinding marks are removed from the paint and then the complex polishing work begins. The result is a completely disappeared orange peel and a vehicle paint that now has to be sealed. For this purpose, a protective film in the form of a specially - tailored to the 458 - paint protection film that even extends over the carbon components. Topaz fills the tiny pores in the film with one ceramic coating which at the same time repels dirt and withstands the usual environmental influences. Watch the video! (Photos: Topaz detailing)
