Icona Series: The Ferrari Daytona SP3 with 840 PS-V12!

On the occasion of the Ferrari World Finals presented a new component of the 'Icona' series in Mugello in 2021. The 'Icona' series started with the Monza SP1 and SP2. The new Targa is strict limited and has a surprising connection to Ferrari's racing past. The Daytona SP3 pays homage to the sports prototype world championship of 1967. That year Ferrari made it with the Ferrari 330 P3 / 4, the 330 P4 and the 412P within the 24 hours of Daytona all three podium places to achieve.

Specifications: Daytona SP3

The third 'Icona' model has one 6,5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine. This sits in the stern and performs 840 PS at a crazy 9.250 rpm. And it reaches a maximum torque of 697 Newton meters at 7.250 rpm. Officially, the SP3 makes it in 2,85 seconds from 0 to 100 and within 7,4 seconds from 0 to 200 km / h. The top speed of the Daytonas SP3 is over 340 km / h.

Compared to the 812 Competition for example the Daytona is with it About 0,1 seconds faster to 200 km / h. The Competizione has an identical engine, but it is installed at the front. The Daytona SP3 has one power to weight ratio of 1,77 kg / hp due to an empty weight of only 1.485 kg. According to Maranello, despite the lack of active elements, the vehicle is the 'most aerodynamically efficient vehicle that Ferrari has ever built'. With regard to weight distribution, Ferrari reports that approx. 56 percent from the stern and 44 percent be worn from the front.

Design: Daytona SP3

The look of the Daytona SP3 was designed by the Ferraris design director, Flavio Manzoni, and the Centro Stile team. The vehicle has rounded, but muscular, shapes in side view as well as one wraparound windshield. The exterior mirrors are located on the pronounced wheel arches. At the front are headlights with a movable cover, a tribute to old pop-up headlights. The stern is reminiscent of red, horizontal ones slats, an aggressive one diffuser and two centrally mounted tailpipes to some racing models, but also to the Testarossa.

The interior is based on the interior of the Ferrari 330 P3 / P4, 312 P and the 350 Can-Am. This is combined with modern design elements like a digital instrument cluster, Touch controls in the center console and some controls on the Steering wheel as well as a clear dashboard. Another highlight is a blue one Seat upholsterythat continues through the center tunnel. According to Ferrari, this is also the first model since Ferrara, which has the chassis composites used in Formula 1. These include, for example T800 carbon fiber and kevlar. In order to reduce weight, the seats are firmly integrated into the chassis, a kind of bond that is primarily known from racing models.

In order to ensure roadworthiness with the fantastic racing properties, a special one was even created Tubes developed. Pirelli developed a special one for the Daytona SP3 P Zero Corsa tires. And that also transfers the braking forces from the powerful sports brake system with 398 mm discs at the front and 380 mm discs at the rear. In addition, there are also special Ferrari systems. This includes the F1 Trac traction control as well as the "e-Diff 3.0" differential and the Side slip control.

It is not yet known how many copies Ferrari will limit the special model Daytona SP3 to. A price has also not yet been announced. Most of us probably shouldn't care about those last two points anyway. On the one hand, most of the models have most likely been awarded to Ferrari's long-term customers, on the other hand, the price makes the model only accessible to this group of people.
