"Short-term" GM power in the Fiat 8V Ghia Supersonic!

Hardly any other vehicle brand is as rarely represented in the field of tuning as Fiat. Not really incomprehensible to us, because the range of vehicles is not necessarily bursting with attractiveness. If you ask anyone what they think of Fiat these days, the answers are likely not to be flattering to the Italian automaker. That is why Fiat has been forgotten for years. But it wasn't always like that. Shortly after the end of World War II, Fiat was one of the most important brands in Europe. For example, when the Italians developed the 8V, also known as Otto Vu (engl .: eight V) sports car with a V8 under the hood as a luxury sedan. For a manufacturer whose main task was to build successful cars for the masses, the development of a V8 coupe in cooperation with design houses such as Ghia, Zagato and Vignale was a real revolution. In the 2 years of production a little more than 110 vehicles of the type 8V were produced. Approx. 30 with body from Fiat's Reparto Carrozzerie Speciali and about the same number of Zagato details.

only 15 “Supersonic” vehicles

Another 40 vehicles were made with Ghia design. And of the latter there were around 15 so-called “Supersonic” vehicles. And one of them is this 8V, which was ordered by Corvette's General Motors designer Henry Lauve and used as a daily driver. And at some point he had thrown out the factory V8 and simply replaced it with a Chevy 283ci (4,3 liter) V8. As far as we know, the reason was a defect in the original Fiat V8 engine. And currently the one-off in incredibly good condition is waiting for a new owner at the RM Sotheby's auction house. Fortunately, the 8V was upgraded and so it has now installed a correct engine again. Due to the rarity, condition, and history, the auction house expects up to $ 2,2 million. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
