Attention! There is a "Update " which contains new information (pictures, data, video). The new info you will find, specially marked, at the end of the article! Anyone who has always found the Viper good and still mourns the old model may now listen intently. The new model is already on the market but sales were so low that Chrysler had temporarily ceased production.

It's actually the muscle car of the Ami's and some people will not wait for this car to come back on Dodge's production lines. The biggest point is probably the extreme price reduction on 85.000 Dollar (about 67.500 Euro) played a role. The distribution channels have also been optimized and now it is finally possible to order the Viper at any Dodge dealer. Nevertheless, one must not forget the competitive market in the class of sports coupes. After all, there is still the well-known Corvette which is almost 10.000 dollars cheaper and whose performance is virtually indistinguishable.

"The Detroit Bureau" reported that production of the Viper will be back in full swing by mid-November and that the old capacities will be reached. Nevertheless, the total sales are still “pretty tiny” when you consider that only 108 vehicles were sold in September. After all, that's about 60% more than in the previous year (45) but it should still be just too little for Doge what your 8,4 liter V10 Coupe sheds. The figures for 2015 are optimistic, after all, 200 people have already ordered the 640PS Monster. That is approx. 100% more than ever before.

The base model (SRT and VIPER GT) currently comes from the Conner Avenue factory in Detroit. It is currently not known who will take over the production of the more expensive TA and GTS versions. Chrysler recently showed a supercharged Viper with huge air outlets above the front wheels at the tuning fair in Sema (Las Vegas). According to Chrysler, the aim of the air intakes is to reduce turbulence and increase downforce.

Update from "07.06.2015": There is new information that we cannot withhold from you of course. Have fun with the video from the test report of the Dodge Viper GTS that was posted by the Motor Trend Channel!
