Have you ever heard of the American tuner? Superformance heard? The company wasn't known to us either, but that has now suddenly changed. The background is a beautiful Ford GT40 replica with a 3,5 liter V6 Ecoboost engine and lots of power. The "Future GT Forty" project comes with two Honeywell-Garrett turbochargers and a roaring Magnaflow sports exhaust system. The vehicle was already on display at SEMA 2018 but not really finished. The engine performs in its current state only a good 500 hp but that should change soon. At least 700 PS & 650 NM with E85 fuel are planned. And this massive achievement has a very banal background. Doug Campbell is the person behind the project and he wants to accelerate the GT40 to at least 346 km / h at various high-speed events and that could work.

The transmission is designed for a maximum of 367 km / h and the aerodynamics, the low weight and the power of the engine will hopefully soon enable the rest. The load is braked by a Wilwood brake system with huge slotted brake discs and red painted brake calipers. The chassis is largely a standard Superformance Mk1 Ford GT40 replica with right-hand drive and manual transmission on the right-hand side. It is still powered by the rear wheels and the body is supplemented with some carbon aerodynamic parts. As already mentioned, it is a replica, but the vehicle is so true to the original that, according to Superformance, 2/3 of the chassis parts can be replaced with the original GT40 parts.

And even optically, the layman will hardly see any difference to the legendary MK1 GT40. Worth mentioning at this point is the HRE center lock wheel set with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, the huge rear wing and the relatively low price of around 180.000 US dollars. We do not currently have any more details about the GT40 replica from Superformance. If we receive timely information on further changes not mentioned so far, there will of course be an update for this report.
