Rare: Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R with 385 PS V8 power!

Only the die-hard Mustang fans know that! A Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R with a 385 hp V8 engine under the domed hood. The vehicle dates from 2000 and was created with well-known accessory manufacturers such as Recaro (Seats), B. F. Goodrich (radial T / A tires), Brembo (4-piston system with ventilated disc brakes), Eibach (Lowering springs) and a few more. The SVT Cobra R is based on the Mustang IV and the toxic Cobra was a special edition of the Special Vehicle Team (SVT). It was limited to only 300 vehicles and was a real hit at the time. The model 2000 Cobra R is a racing model and was only available in the color red and of course ALWAYS available with the handmade SVT-V8 engine with special DOHC cylinder heads.

5,4 liter displacement & 385 PS in the V8

Rare: Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R with 385 PS V8 power!

The engine has 5,4-liter displacement and in addition to the mentioned 285 KW (385 PS) there is a strong 522 NM torque. And such a rare copy is now being made by Mecum Auctions auctioned. An almost new 2000 Mustang SVT Cobra R with an incredible 480 miles (approx. 772 km) on the speedometer. Half of this probably came from pushing back and forth in the garage. Crazy after 20 years! By the way, it is specifically the car with the number 052 out of 300 and it appears to be in pristine condition. The V8 engine with 8.000 rpm. on the tachometer is coupled to a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission and equipped with a particularly close gear ratio especially for drag racing. Nevertheless, the gear ratio is sufficient to reach a top speed of an impressive 282 km / h in sixth gear. Optical highlights are definitely the mighty front apron with splinters, the huge bonnet with power dome, the widened fenders and of course the large fixed rear wing.

Rear apron with integrated Mustang lettering

Rare: Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R with 385 PS V8 power!

The rear apron has an integrated Mustang lettering and does not need a typical exhaust system. The SVT Cobra R has a side pipe sports exhaust system that is presented on both sides with two stainless steel tailpipes in front of the rear wheels. In the cabin it is relatively simple compared to the huge look on the outside. The SVT has no back seat, there is no air conditioning and no sound system is installed. For this, however, he relies on black Recaro bucket seats and white dials. The goal was clearly to cause as little weight as possible. And it was worth it. With a curb weight of 1631 kg, it goes to 4,5 km / h in just 100 seconds and the sprint to 160 takes only 10,4 seconds. If we get some information about the auction price, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
