2023 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X and Tremor Pickup!

Ford Pro, the new business unit aimed at commercial customers of all industries and sizes with a wide range of vehicles and practical services from a single source, is launching two further versions of the new Ford Ranger generation: the Ranger Wildtrak X and the Ranger Tremor. They stand for outstanding off-road capabilities, modern technologies and specific design features. This means that Europe's most popular pickup series is now available in eight equipment variants that cover all customer requirements: XL, XLT, Tremor, Limited, Wildtrak, Wildtrak X, Platinum and Raptor. Ford Pro dealers are now accepting orders for the two new model versions, Wildtrak X and Tremor. The first vehicles are scheduled to roll out to customers in August 2023. The Ranger Tremor costs in Germany from 44.190 euros net, the Ranger Wildtrak X from 51.890 euros net.

Ford Ranger Wildtrak X

The Ranger Wildtrak X and the Ranger Tremor are primarily aimed at customers who want or have to use their platform truck for demanding off-road tasks. Both variants therefore have a comprehensively modified chassis. It relies on Bilstein shock absorbers, with which the Wildtrak X and the Tremor are currently the only Ranger versions to be fitted as standard. There are also driver assistance systems specially designed for off-road use. Special design features visually underline the robust characteristics of the two newcomers.

As the first European pickups ever, Ranger Wildtrak X and Tremor are characterized by the optionally available adjustable sports bar. It is ideal for tradesmen who want to transport long objects such as ladders or pipes and at the same time want to keep the actual loading area free for other freight. "Ranger Wildtrak X and Ranger Tremor follow the same guiding principle as the legendary Ranger Raptor: excellent off-road capabilities, modern technologies and a strong design. Wildtrak X and Tremor not only expand the Ranger family in a meaningful way, but also raise it to a new level“, explains Hans Schep, Managing Director of Ford Pro Europe.

The launch of Ranger Wildtrak X and Ranger Tremor coincides with the best-ever registration record for Ranger in Europe1: in 2022, Ford achieved a record market share of 44,9 percent with this series. This corresponds to an increase of 18 percentage points compared to the previous year (2021). This makes the Ranger the best-selling pickup model in Europe for the eighth year in a row.

The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X!

The Ranger Wildtrak X is based on the Wildtrak model version – so it has a crew cab as standard (4 doors, 5 seats), but has 26 millimeters more ground clearance and a 30 millimeters wider track. This benefits directional stability, especially in rough terrain. The revised chassis rests on high-performance dampers from Bilstein as standard. They provide the optimal damping effect over the entire spring travel. This improves off-road capability without compromising driving comfort on paved roads. The upgraded high-performance power steering and standard steel underbody protection also underline the off-road competence of the Ranger Wildtrak X.

The tried-and-tested EcoBlue diesel with a displacement of 2,0 liters is used as the drive in the Wildtrak X. The four-cylinder biturbo achieves a maximum torque of 1.750 Nm from 500 rpm and a peak output of 151 kW (205 hp)*, which is distributed to the wheels by a 10-speed automatic transmission. The standard equipment includes the electronically controlled, intelligent e-4WD all-wheel drive with "set-and-forget" mode: It ensures that the driver has the engine power he needs at all times and everywhere.

One of the new off-road technologies that the Wildtrak X comes with from the factory is Trail Turn Assist. The system, which is also used in the new Ford Bronco, uses torque vectoring based on braking interventions and reduces the turning circle by up to 25 percent if necessary. The "Trail Control" system, on the other hand, works like a cruise control system: the driver specifies a speed of up to a maximum of 32 km/h off-road and the electronics automatically take over the braking and acceleration up to the defined desired speed.

Previously only available on the Ultimate Ranger Raptor, Rock Crawl mode was designed for controlled traversal specifically over rough and rocky terrain. This driving program is now also part of the standard equipment of the Ranger Wildtrak X. "Rock Crawl" influences, among other things, the throttle response, the traction control and the shift behavior of the automatic transmission. Advantage: The driver can fully concentrate on the steering work in difficult terrain.

With its self-confident appearance, the Ranger Wildtrak X makes a powerful statement. A wide track, underride protection and greater ground clearance clearly set it apart from the Wildtrak. The special surround of the radiator grille in asphalt black and the H-bar on the front bumper, the wheel arch paneling and the differently designed rear bumper also contribute to the unique design. On request, matrix LED headlights with additional lights in the grille further enhance the appearance and at the same time improve visibility and your ability to be seen in the dark. Striking Wildtrak X emblems, black brand logos and 8J x 17-inch light-alloy wheels with white-lettered all-terrain tires measuring 265/70 R17 A round off the robust off-road design.

Inside, the driver and passengers sit on seats with "Miko" upholstery in suede look and embroidered Wildtrak X logo. The “Terra” soft-touch cover, which also looks like suede, complete with contrasting stitching in cyber-orange adorns the top of the instrument panel, the door panels and the center console. The Ranger Wildtrak X comes standard with connectivity to FordPass2 and Ford Pro Services such as FORDLiive.

The Ford Ranger Tremor!

The new Ranger Tremor is based on the Ranger XLT - that is, on the model variant that is designed for tough work assignments. In the Tremor version, the flatbed truck has the same chassis and technology features as the Wildtrak X. It also shares the electronically controlled, intelligent e-4WD all-wheel drive with it - the result is a robust pickup for tradespeople that is also reliable recommended for challenges in rough terrain. The Ranger Tremor is optionally available with an extra cab (4 doors, 4 seats) or with a double cab (4 doors, 5 seats).

Like the Ranger Wildtrak X, the Ranger Tremor uses the EcoBlue diesel with a displacement of 2,0 liters and an output of 151 kW (205 hp)*. The four-cylinder biturbo achieves a maximum torque of 1.750 Nm from 500 rpm. The revised chassis geometry can also be seen on the outside: the Ranger Tremor stands there wide and down-to-earth - an impression to which the exhibited wheel arch panels and the wide track also make a significant contribution. The standard sports safety bar made of round tube is a striking feature. Running boards made of cast aluminum and the two exposed towing hooks in the front of the vehicle continue the powerful, functional design, which is also reflected in the radiator grille and accents in boulder grey.

The interior of the Ranger Tremor is just as robust, because the seats and the cabin floor are coated with water-repellent, easy-to-clean vinyl. If you want to equip the Ranger Tremor with even more versatility for a wide variety of purposes, you can order the pre-wired control panel under the vehicle roof. It includes six inputs for controlling winches, LED lightbars and other devices that can be ordered through a Ford dealer or through the brand's online store.

Full flexibility: the adjustable sports bar

Both the Ranger Wildtrak X and the Ranger Tremor can be further upgraded with an adjustable sports bar from Ford - the first attachment option specifically for particularly long loads3 such as ladders, pipes or even kayaks in the European pickup segment. With the help of the folding roof rack and the adjustable and sliding rear loading bar, long objects can be transported above roof level instead of letting them protrude over the tailgate. This not only improves load securing, but also keeps the loading area free for additional freight. Maximum load: 80 kg (driving) or 250 kg (standing). This variably adjustable sports bar is now also available for the Ranger Limited and the Ranger Wildtrak.
