Although the engine code is almost identical to that of the M550i xDrive, it has little to do with the variant presented at the beginning of 2017. Compared to the 462 PS & 650 NM strong engine from the 5 series, a good 70% of all parts in the M850i have been changed. A new crankcase, different pistons and connecting rods, improved cylinder liners and larger twin-scroll chargers, also with the new particle filter, ensure an increase in performance of 68 hp and 100 Nm compared to the 5 series.

And G-Power already showed that last year M550i engine in G30 / G31 to 600 PS & 810 Nm torque is able to. A plus of 138 PS & 160 NM! With similar changes (downpipe, Sportkats) and the POWER-Performance Software V2 software, the M850i from G-Power now push the Stage 2 a whopping 670 hp and 890 Newton meters forward. Stage 1 on the other hand, is only achieved using G-Power Performance Software V1 and still provides a remarkable 620 PS and 850 Newton meters. If you then add a changed turbocharger and an improved intake, you should probably come in the direction of 700-730 PS and a good 1.000 Nm of torque. Maybe by means of Stage 3? We are curious when the G-Power G8M M850i xDrive will officially see the light of day. If we get the first information about this, there will of course be an update for this report.
